Well a movie or video I think is better for my Taiwanese female friends, we gossip about movie dates and home video dates and what goes on, not too much on books but others are different and different cultures.
I’m not sure whether to be offended or defended.
obviously praised.
Well, it could have been the Old Testament…
If she has even read this book, I would be impressed.
That reminds me. I need to get on this one: What favorite book is a dating deal-breaker?

“Any hope or fear that the experimental novel was an aberration of the twentieth century is dashed by the appearance of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves "
I read the synopsis and I’m definitely intrigued.
That’s a book that takes forever to read. Not just because it’s long, but because you want to read one chapter on Sunday and spend the rest of the week thinking about it.
Skip all the parts about whales. Especially when he tells you a whale is definitely a fish (though I suspect that’s a little tongue in cheek).
Tolkien: book only- and she agrees the movie is crap.
Anyway I would probably say Gone with the Wind. I love that book but I’ve never met anyone who’s read it in real life lol. People seem to only have seen the movie at best, which I love, but I will always prefer the book.
I have, but so long ago that I can’t differentiate the two- I remember disliking it, but then I’m not a fan of the Klan.
But, really, if I met if she named any Leo Tolstoy book or had an interest in his philosophy
Ah, the old question- Tolstoy or Dosteovsky?
It’s like John or Paul, or Pepsi or Coke- one of the great questions dividing humanity.

People should be able to judge art based on its time.
Any cookbook.
I’ve dated a couple of gals who didn’t know how to boil water.
Oh, agree- just sometimes you have to consider it in the Big Scheme of Things. I think that point is made excellently in ‘Kiss of the Spiderwoman’.
Any cookbook.
I like cookbook with nice photos. I ask to my spouse to cook them.

How does one season a cookbook to make it palatable?
The following is just an example, but I’d no I’m onto a keeper if I met a girl in Taiwan who read serious graphic novels like this:
I have absolutely nothing against the manga and manhua some Taiwanese girls read (those who don’t look down on the entire medium of comics and the people who read them, like some Taiwanese women I’ve met), but there’s One Piece and then there’s Watchmen. It isn’t uncommon to find women who appreciate comics as serious literature in the West, but I’ve never seen it in Taiwan.
I realize I’m going to catch a lot of shit for this but I don’t care:
That’s the most wholesome book thus far.
I don’t know if it’s a ‘forever’ keeper but I would be intrigued enough to come back a few times to find out.
This was a dealbreaker for a girl I was seeing:
On the bright side, she gave me a generous severance package when she stopped seeing me.
