Someone pointed out to me that the list of all my posts that had been “recommended” and of other members’ posts that I had recommended have all been erased. I “recommended” Cranky Laowai’s post on Friday as a test, so I still have the ability to recommend others posts. I don’t know if others still have the ability to recommend my posts.
I’m wondering why the record of past recommends has disappeared, though. As far as I can tell, no one else is affected. Can someone shed some light on this?
This may be the new Taiwan Government directive issued on April 1st,to stop users spending too much time blogging on Websites. There is now a maximum of 27 ( I just scraped in and missed the cull ) This rule may,I suspect, be rescinded on April 2nd. Only targets the really famous Forumosans/Taiwanese users.
Is light shed by looking at the date of tommy’s recommendation to the Opening Post? Quite funny if you’ve been had, Maowho.
Also if the date is just a coincidence.

You think someone erased all my recommends and recommended posts as an April Fools Joke? I doubt it - this didn’t happen today. But I don’t know when exactly it happened, either.
I didn’t do it
Don’t look at me
Damn North Koreans!
My dog ate my homework
There’s a recommendations count?
I have no idea what you’re talking about
I did not have sexual relations with that woman
We actually have been wiping out Spam more efficiently and proactively lately … do you think that… naaaah!
All kidding aside, I really don’t have any clue what happened here. I’ll check-in with our tech team and see if they know anything about it. It would be a real drag, and very uncool, if we were losing recommendations because of a glitch in the system.
Nice to see you posting on the site again other than events, even though it is about a glitch

It would be cool to see some reciprocation. Community spirit and all that.

Did you antagonize any tech people in the recent past???
I think it’s kinda like the Kudos button on that other site. Or maybe I have the sites mixed up with something else
Remember when this site had the ‘friend or foe’ button? Who’s idea was that, and where did it get anyone?
Does the ‘friend or foe’ button still exist, and has anyone ever used it?
Friend or Foe is what used to be called the Ignore Button. Ignore developed asca modification on phpbb2. phpbb3 added the friend part, which seems to be a special list of Who’s Online in the User Control Panel.
Friend or For should still be available here - I’ve never used it to ignore anyone (I just ignore them
OMG, could it be that its a new disease??? LIke when you get the “maoman” and your recommended posts disappear>>>>> and then later YOU dissappearre !!! run for the hills !!!
I think its safe to say that maoman will slowly climb to the top again without any need to restore backups.
Anyhow I’ll see if I can dig up an old backup this weekend where the thankslist was still full of gratefulness for maoman so TempoGain’s tech team can restore it.
