Okay, so I put on the tv today to find that channel 76 - Star World is no longer there! Neither is BBC - channel 106 and the kids disney channel has switched to channel 23…
Anyone know what is up with this??? How do I get Star World now - it was the only decent channel!!!
(Oh, don’t know if it makes a difference what area you are in but I am living in Yilan).
I just had a cable box fitted for an extra 30 NT per month wwhich gives me Star World, BBC News uninterupted as well as a heap of other channels. I believe for an extra 30 something nt per month I can also get a hold of all those Discovery channels and the like. It’s quite inexpensive really. I did this since I moved from Taipei county to city and so lost the Star World channel. I quite enjoy the extra channels. If you want porn though, you should think twice as the sex channels are very poor and only soft porn is available for the 30 nt, not that I care really…honest…!
Maybe it depends on which star it’s on. It may be orbited by a giant gas planet or a brown dwarf that would periodically block its signal. I think all the shows on there are crap anyway.
Here in Danshui Star World moved from 79 to 108 (where it was until about two months ago), but BBC (formerly chn 105) completely disappeared.
I often watch the beeb for news, arts series, Indian business news, and I even watched their (too short) commentary programs about Euro 2008.
I guess I’ll have my wife call Hong Shulin Cable to complain. You never know.
Taiwanese cable companies are worthless pricks … 37 commercial sales channels, 48 buddhist channels, 59 ‘24h’ Taiwan news channels (how much news can there be in Taiwan in 24h?) and the rest lousy Taiwanese/Asian cry baby soaps and ‘talk’ shows …
Stop whinging, call your cable company and get the digital. I pay 12o a month for about 20 channels.
Telefirst in N. Taoyuan do some amazing deals.
I can’t even watch the cable reception anymore.
If the cable company in Sanxia had ‘digitaaaallll’, then I would subscribe … anyways, I’ll firsthand next week Wednesday if they cut Starworld and BBC …
