What Has Happened to Star World?

Just adding to the digital box / cable information.
Haven’t watched much TV lately and just found my digital box for Star World was lacking a signal. Called Telefirst here in TaoYuan for repair and learned that a new box (1,000NT deposit) is needed as the old one ended service on October. I asked if I could receive the 1,200 NT deposit I paid for the first box; “no, that’s a different company”. Uh, maybe a misunderstanding as it is the same company and I have the receipt.
I don’t need a lot of channels and I’m not sure how long I’ll be here, so I’ll cough up the money and get Star World.

Is Starworld Asia now gone again here in Taipei? channel 84 is now showing TACT channel…ugh!
Okay, so I put on the tv today to find that channel 76 - Star World is no longer there! Neither is BBC - channel 106 and the kids disney channel has switched to channel 23…

Anyone know what is up with this??? How do I get Star World now - it was the only decent channel!!!

(Oh, don’t know if it makes a difference what area you are in but I am living in Yilan).
I’m getting it in Xindian for the first time on Ch46. And it just seems to be wall to wall American Idol. I’m so glad I have found out how the other half live!

Not sure if this is the case (my Mandarin doesn’t exist!) but looked at Li Guon Cable’s site, and it seems that Star World is now only on Digital Cable, and not normal Cable TV?

Guess I need to see about how to change to the digital cable plan?

Wait until the week progresses - you’re also going to be treated to repeats of America’s Next Top Model, Canada’s Next Top Model and Australia’s Next Top Model.

I does indeed look like the shitty cable company in remote Xindian has decided to change its channel lineup and add Starworld

It turns out the reason for this is because the previous channel that was broadcasting on channel 46 lost their their broadcast permit…

I really do miss Kbro when it comes to the cable TV quality, although Extra-LAN is better for internet, if only slightly…

There’s a Star World waiting in the sky. He’d like to come and meet us, but he thinks he’ll blow our minds.

In danshui, StarWorld was being offered for free for a short time and then they made it an option for people to add, for an extra charge…and of course they didn’t say any of this when we signed up for a whole year… We didn’t add it and let the cable expire.

My Starworld in Taipei on ch 84 has been replaced.

Was in Hong Kong last weekend and Starworld tv there was running advertisements “welcoming Taiwan” to Starworld…

It seems to be the one channel that no-one seems to really offer here, yet it turns up from time to time…
Kbro only had it on digital, but it was available in Taoyuan when I lived there…

We still have STAR World. We use a box from these people: http://www.bbtv.tw/

Don’t ask me for any details though. My SO did all the arranging.

The usual suspects: AXN, Cinemax, Hollywood, TLC, NatGeo, and a whole bunch of HBO channels, and then some like Syfy and Universal for extra.

You could always get a satellite dish.

I have the Dish HD service and they have Star World in HD… :bravo: They also have a bunch of other US channels in HD like Fox, FX etc. Hope this helps
