What is a "ring box" in Chinese?

Hello,

I am going to propose to my Taiwanese girlfriend soon, and was wondering how I could find a “ring box” that I could order online? My plan was to propose with a cheap ring (so it won’t necessarily come with a box) and then have her pick out a ring she likes herself.

I’ve searched PCHome for “戒指盒”, “戒指箱子”, and “珠寶盒” but can’t seem to find anything

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks much!

戒指盒 or 對戒盒 is probably what I would use, but you won’t find it on pchome because people usually get them for free when they buy the ring.

There is a pretty cheap ring on pchome that comes with a decent looking box though.

Using 戒指盒 as the keyword, there are other online shops that carry the product.

I think this wallet ringbox is interesting as well

If you only have a PChome account, you might as well just buy that ring with the box for 250 NTD

Thank you guys so much! Looks like I wasn’t far off just that PCHome doesn’t carry them…

I think I might try to setup a Yahoo Account as I like the look of this one: https://tw.bid.yahoo.com/item/深情寶藍色全絨布高級戒指盒-適用耳釘-耳環-珠寶收納-100341800740

謝謝!

Why not buy a gift box in a stationery?

A box is like 100bucks and u need to pay for like 85bucks shipping on pchome or any other online shopping platforms

I suggest you join her when she picks it up by herself. I didn’t, and I was quite annoyed when I get my credit card statement the following month.

As someone who went through the ritual last year, there are other options to your current plan.

You can go to a ring store and pick out a diamond you know you can afford, then borrow a ring from the store for your proposal. They would use a special glue to glue it on, so as long as you don’t put the ring in a glass or propose in the pool or something, it would be totally secure.

You can then return to the store with your fiance and let her pick out a ring that she likes to go with the diamond you’ve already purchased.

You can ask the ring shop if they provide this kind of service when you go in. I know a couple of them do. I borrowed a ring from AMC and went to Japan for my proposal.

If you gf won’t go bridezilla over the size or quality of the diamond you bought, this would be a decent option. At least the ring would look like the real deal when you propose.

Here in Taiwan though, the ring boxes are freaking huge. It’s really difficult to hide it. So you might still need that blue one from yahoo if you want to surprise her.

I went to a small DIY store, bought some wood, made a small box, decorated it in a cute way, put the ring in it and proposed. It worked!

I went through this in December.

If you’re in Taipei, there’s a wholesale jewelry supply store near Taipei Main Station that sells ring boxes. I got mine there after ordering one from Rakuten that I didn’t like very much.

The address is around here:

No. 28號, Section 1, Chongqing North Road, Datong District, Taipei City, 103

Thanks for sharing. I can’t really relate to this concept. Have you heard of anyone doing this before? I’m curious about how popular it is.

Have you guys talked about marriage at all or is this a total surprise to her?

Another option would be to buy a decent cheap ring that she could keep for the future and maybe wear on a different finger while promising to go buy a real engagement ring immediately following that she can pick out herself.

My wife actually suggested it to me. She prefers a cheap cute ring over a formal expensive one. And it looks like it’s not uncommon at all, I’ve seen many Taiwanese friends on FB going through the same process.
I guess it may also depend on the amount of $$$ floating around in someone’s family, though.

Another option is to go together to pick out the ring but have the store tell you it won’t be ready for 2 or 3 weeks. Then you can surprise her by proposing with her ring earlier.
