Yes, but only within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Ya sure fooled me.
How exactly does GA identify users as male or female?
Of course itâs a parody! In the tradition of⌠I donât recall how it goes, but itâs the same meme, at its core, as the one thatâs been going around for decades presenting heterosexuality as a scientific curiosity (which it actually was when the term was coined).
And in all seriousness, would you really stop identifying as male if you suddenly lost one limb in an accident? (Or to an vengeful lady, as the case may be?)
Curious about this too. Does it gather data on the types of things we google and make a guess based on that?
Easy. It just installs a virus on your PC and tracks your porn history.
If it were, say, 1990, I would immediately be able to draw this very sensible conclusion.
But itâs not.
It remotely tracks what percentage of the time your toilet seat is up.
Google is inside my Japanese toilet seat?? Itâs even more invasive than I ever believedâŚ
You may laugh, but embedded systems (at least if they are connected to the outside world) are theoretically open to attack.
Whoâs laughing?
If you lived in a real country with actual infrastructure, Google would know how many times this week youâve yelled at someone for having a piece of toast.
Ich sexually identify as an Attack Helicopter and I am appaled by this pollâs lack of choice.
My sources say no
Thatâs it, then. Take the Robot Revolution seriously.
The gender poll, thatâs something else.
I honestly donât know. These pages from a Google search also try to figure it out
Google can determine userâs gender and age when an user provide his name to a google account or to a google partner. Having an user name is easy to discover the gender using a service like Dots Name Validation (http://www.serviceobjects.com/products/demographics-more/name-validation).
Theyâre doing that using global cookies. Global cookies contain an info on who you are; and when an event like âpage viewâ happens, then that event is sent with an information by whom that event happened - meaning you.
In this chart from Google Analytics, which I clipped today, what does 36.78% of total users mean?
I am guessing it means 36.78% of all users could be identified by their gender. Does anyone know for sure?
Itâs probably biased towards women. Men have a higher chance of installing something that blocks trackers like google (because weâre more likely to be autistic and have an unhealthy obsession with privacy).
