I like both funk and music from the Balkans, even if don’t know a lot about them. So it’s funny to listen to this and identify elements of both in these songs.

I saw him live, once, he was from Donegal but mostly grew up in Cork. The guy who ran the music shop that I used to go to knew him. He died young from the booze I believe. They renamed a square in the middle of cork after him too. You know you have succeeded at busking when they name the street after you, lol

That’s another cork connection he lives in a town called Buttavant in cork. It’s from Norman French Butte Avant and by accounts that I heard he is a local character. He had his own distinctive 1960s hippy folk feel
