What’s in YOUR Go Bag?

How long will your frozen rice last after the power goes out?

I have gas generator.

Next question.

How much gas do you keep on hand?

The key point is to turn over the generator every few months to “churn” the gas through the engine. The other thing is that a refrigerator can keep food cool probably 24 hours or more. A freezer can be longer if has good seal. Plus, if low temps, then can remain cooler//frozen longer without having to start generator the first time. Honda generator is 20 liters, and then have 8-liter gas cans. If power out for more than 2 weeks, there’s more serious sheet going on then.

Freeze-dried fruits, vegetables, grains, fish and meat sealed in Mylar bags with one packet of O2 absorber will last 25 years at room temperature while retaining 95% of their flavor and nutrition.

Added bonus is in an emergency freeze-dried food in Mylar pouches will be better than cash for bartering.

Looking at solutions for an extended power outage. Anyone have recommendations for a battery power source which could be charged by a solar panel?Enough capacity to run mobile devices and some lighting for a few days?

We got an emergency measures booklet at our house now, haven’t even bothered to look at it yet.

Follow up to the many items already listed:

Heavy duty work gloves for moving and getting around concrete, glass, rebar and sharp, rusty metal.
Nitrile gloves for protection against waste and toxic substances and for first aid.
Sturdy shoes/boots.
In anticipation of being out in the elements and long waits - umbrella, hat, long sleeve shirts and long pants and mosquito net head covering.
Masks for smoke, dust and in close quarters with others.
Compact hand crank and solar radio/power source.
Plastic bags to keep things dry.
Rope, light tarp, sheets.
Alcohol spray.

How about an extra phone with all the current apps useful in China
