I’m heading to Doleo for the night. Not sure if I spelled it correctly, but it is the biggest city in Yun-lin county. anyone know a good place to go for some drinks?

No, seriously…I’ve been to Douliu. It is in Yun-Lin county. You’re in deep backwoods Taiwan. There’s very little to do from what I saw there. I don’t think there are any foreigner-friendly pubs in that town…the foreigner population is too small to support any. You’ll have to make do with KTVs and holes in the walls for the most part…Why not go to Chiayi or Taichung instead? Depending on where you are, those are almost as close and have much more to offer.
There is a foreigner hang out in Doulio. It was just a whole in the wall type drinking place. It was so long ago that I don’t remember the name. Sorry.
Douliu has two McDonald’s now. It’s big time.
My son was conceived in Douliu.
They have a Pizza Hut and Domino’s, too. City’s moving up.
Next time anybody goes to Doulio, I would suggest going to the JanFuSun entertainment park. It’s got a huge London Eye style wheel and other quite exciting machines. It contains a coffee museum/showroom (very beautiful by the way) has a really cool pub/disco Bali-style, KTV, a lake with some antique stone sculptures brought from China, great cheap normal night market food, and but if wanted, other restaurants can be found. I’ve been there twice in the last seven months and I highly recommend it! It’s only 15 minutes away by car from the train station.

I think the foreigner watering hole is next to the McD’s opposite the railway station. There’s a couple of benches outside the 7-11 where you can hang out, drink cheap beer and try to hit on the Thai and Indonesian domestics/factory workers. :s

Yeah I’ve been to Mark’s bar plenty of times. It’s not bad at all. Live bands, Drum and Bass… fooseball. Big bottles of beer for 120nt.
