I’m currently staying near the Tianmu Convention Centre, and wondered if there were any decent night markets/stores/cafes or restaurants nearby within walking distance, that we could go to tonight?
Tianmu’s not really a night-market area. But there are lots of good restaurants within walking distance of where you are.
I didn’t see this until too late for your dinner. How long are you around? What sort of food do you like?
Places that spring immediately to mind in Tienmu are;
Chilis at the Hsing Gwang San Yue
The Spice Shop or Saffron in the lane between the above mentioned department store complex. (Indian restaurants)
‘Fang’s’ Chinese restaurant on Tienmu East Rd.
The Crepe restaurant or Indian restaurant, which are both situated in the same alley before Mc Donalds on Tienmu West Rd.
BigTom’s on Zhongshan N. Rd. Section 7. (organic icecream and coffee) The best cream cheese and beef or salmon sandwiches in town.
Not far down the road…
Mary’s hamburger. (Zhongshan N. Rd. section 6)
Eatburger (the best burger in town for the money IMHO): DeHsin W. Rd. (close to Carrefour)
Lily’s: Zhongshan N. Rd, section 6 [I think]. close to the American school. A decent night time bar, with a nice, relaxing balcony seat for toking away. Do try their Mojito. It’s the best in town I think.
For Kids:
Lego classes at the Lego shop on Tienmu West Rd. Beside Mc Donald’s.
Model car racing and building at Zhongshan N. Rd., section 7, opposite Bigtom’s, in the alley. There’s a shop which sells toys and has a minature racetrack for battery powered model cars. Kids are encouraged to enter races once every couple of months at the local Tienmu sports centre grounds.
Zhongshan N. Rd., section 5: A few music lesson centres available for lessons in all sorts of instruments including drums, guitar, flute, piano, song etc.
I would also like to add that at Yangde Blvd. sec. 1 alley 14 number 10, I have a luthier shop. I do guitar repair, modification, adjustments, and building. So if you have a guitar that needs repair/adjustment or you’re just curious how guitars are made, feel free to stop by.
It’s not technically in Tienmu but its within walking distance, its on the path to Yangming shan, next to a police station. You should see a cheap guitar bolted to the wall next to it.

Sulavaca, You were right on the money again. I had my Eatburger today, and man, was it good! The cute waitresses opened the door for me on my way in and out, and offered me a refill on my drink when it was getting low. I will definately be going back. Note, its across the street from exit 2 in the alley. :bravo:
