What would you pay for a cleaning lady?

We are thinking of getting a lady (Philippino) to come in a few hours a week to help clean our apartment ? something like 4hrs a week, split over a couple of days.

What usually is the going rate ? I don’t want to offend nor offer over the top :help:

Connel

I pay 1k for three hours.

250 per hour is the going rate.

is that with or without the french maid outfit?

Thanks for the fast replies, i was thinking the going rate was gonna be something like NT$150/hr :unamused:

Glad I asked… would have hated to offend  I thought, students working at 7-11’s & Domino’s get under NT$100/hr… hence thought due to the short hours a bit more was fair.

In the grand scheme of things NT$1K a week is cool…

You could try asking her how much she wants. If it sounds OK to you then go ahead with it and both parties are happy.

Well, ‘local labour’ might be cheaper but you asked specifically for a Philippina. My cleaning lady estimated the time and calculated, based on 250 per hour, the price which we then agreed as lump sum on.
Thus I don’t really care how long she needs though the two times I was home she used that time in full
But in any case she does a great job and is well worth the money!

If you are going to correct someone, you should make sure you have your facts straight. It should be Filipina.

I corrected the gender only, not the spelling …

Rascal,

That was a good escape… as we say in the sport of wrestling… :notworthy:

You could save the $$ and actually get off your lazy backside and clean your own apartment like most of the rest of us. :unamused:

… and you can safe even more by avoiding a hefty fine when your Filipina (phew, did I get it right?) get’s caught for/when moonlighting in your house, as has happened to us. They will tell you that it’s o.k. with their employer if she earns a little on the side, and it probably is, but their work permit is only valid for one employer, one job and mostly one location, so anything else is illegal, at least from the point of view of the TW authorities … Be careful! Xpet.

Now why would i want to do that… :s

It will mean more time for me to sit on my lazy backside and post drivel whilst watching someone else clean my apartment unlike most of the rest of you

You guys should be like me and get a Taiwanese girl to clean up. Just find a submissive one; they’re everywhere.

It’s true.

so…teaching english illegally is bad. but paying someone else to work illegally is OK. got it.

Do I read some envy into the above statement? Yeah, I might be lazy, too, but if I can afford it then why not?
My cleaner comes once a week for several hours, during daytime when I am at work.
If I wanted to do it myself I had to do it during the weekend - and most of that free time would be gone (the rest is needed for my beauty sleep  ).

Connel wants 4 hours a week for cleaning help.
“Most of me free time would be gone”? Four hours spread over a week? Are you telling me that you only have 4 hours a week free? Please… :unamused:
And sure, if you want to spend the money to have an illegal worker wash your windows, go for it. You want to hire someone to do other illegal activities, go for it.

This thread should be floundered or deleted as it is advocating illegal activity. If you want to hire a Filipina maid, contact the authorities and see if you qualify. If not, hire a Taiwanese maid.

I disagree. My maid is a Filipina with a Taiwanese husband and three children. She lives in my apartment complex and does a wonderful job. Because she holds a JFRV ARC, she has work rights equal to that of any Taiwanese. I agree that people should not hire illegal workers. However it is not Forumosa’s business to assume who is legal and who is not. :sunglasses:

You know perfectly well what I’m talking about Maoman – your maid is very much an exception to the rule and you know it. The vast majority of the maids people here are referring to are moonlighting on an employer-based ARC.
