Some Canuck fans on facebook are trying to claim that back to back cup wins constitute a modern-day dynasty. I say that has more horsefeathers than my first set of goalie pads. So I ask you , in your fav sport, what record do you consider dynastic? I say for hockey, baseball and football, 4 rings in 5 or 6 years would be the bar. In MMA, 5 successful title defenses and Rugby would be 3 world cups. Or can the day of the free agent and salary caps and league parity mean these Cantpuckers are right?
No way, it just means there aren’t many dynasties any more. At least three wins in four years to get “minor” status. Four seals it.
For hockey the real definition of a dynasty is 3 stanley cups in a row or 4 in 5 years.

I’d agree with the OP. Two championships does not make for a dynasty. It’s one good season maybe followed by a bit of luck the next.

Are you saying there are hockey leagues out there that take the piss out of the NHL by imitating them in a comic fashion?

No shitting you guys, I am just repeating what has been said for years regarding dynasties.
As for the Leafs, well, that dynasty doesn’t count because it’s the Leafs. Out of Ontario, you are allowed to use that as a mulligan.
I am still dazzled by how much is being said about that team this year. I feel like I am going to puke.
Before 1950 my mind goes blurry. I think there were some other dynasties in the 20’ s and 30’s as well. I am not 100 so I can’t remember that far back.
