When is a good time to visit Taiwan to hang out in Taipei, go to the mountains and visit some nice beaches?
I live in Malaysia, so it will be nice to go somewhere cooler than 30 degreed and high humidity every day:)

Fall: Oct-January.
Well I wouldn’t visit Taipei in Nov/Dec/Jan…gets very rainy, grey and cold. I would say Spring or early Summer. Autumn is the best time of year in North of Taiwan but ONLY if you don’t hit a typhoon…then your holiday plans could be put out.
For the rest of the country it’s nice most of the year, Taiwan gets very hot and humid in Summer…not for everybody.
personally, I prefer april/may and late september and october.
I don’t really like how humid and hot it can get, I enjoy taiwan when it’s durable to stay outdoors in the sun ALL day…

Early October.
On average it’s a lot less rainy in Taipei in October-January than the rest of the year. And it’s usually not particularly cold until late December. So I’d say the ideal time would be October and November, though through mid-December should be just fine. But for beaches the O/P might have a different set of criteria than for Taipei.
Do be on the lookout for typhoons in October, though.
I usually find November to be the best month for weather in Taiwan.

If you headed down south, to green island or something you could stretch it into early December.
I wouldn’t recommend December or January or February in Taipei to a rat.
Unquestionably October to early January followed by summer. Spring is the rainy season. Winter is cold and wet. Summer can have typhoons and is usually hot (>30) and very humid though. Weather in center and south is always better than the gloomy north.
It’s a conclusive October to January!
