I was going to write ‘What’s the cheapest cell phone provider?’ and then I thought ‘Wait, I’m not American…’ :raspberry:
I’m with Taiwan Mobile, and have been for forever and ever, but my bills are all something like $2000 a month! At one point they were getting up to 3000, 4000 O.O; I can completelly understand this when I go overseas and am roaming, or the very odd times I make international phone calls, but having my bill normally around 2000/month is confusing as hell to me.
We’ve gone over all my bills and can’t seem to find where the money’s going. My phone-using habits haven’t really changed in years, and I wasn’t spending this much a month on Yufukas. My contract’s up now and I’m thinking it’s time to jump ship.
Any recommendations?
The cheapest is PHS.
If you don’t make any calls, you don’t have to pay anything.
Making phone calls is 1NT per minute or so. I don’t know exactly but my bill is never more than 150NT$ per month.
The only downsides are; Weak signal and service only in urban areas.
I have a combination of Fareastern and PHS.
AT fareastern ou can have a prepaid card with 300 NT$. No monthly fee. The signal strength is good and it’s delivered everywhere.
I never have to use it. The occasions where I am in the country side placing a phone call are rare.
Plenty if you’re not into smartphones (you did say “cell phone provider”).
Nobody’s perfect.

Unless you’re into the other 2 lesser service providers (i.e. 威寶 and 亞太) which provide weak signals, you’re pretty much stuck with the Big 3 (i.e. 中華電信, 遠傳 and your current service provider). I’m not sure about PHS but I heard from various sources that the signals are hella weak.
The only thing you can do now is to take your number and switch service provider which should give you the maximum benefit in terms of rebates, etc.
