It’s kind of hard to describe why Waze can be better than Google maps. You almost need to see it in action live in a environment where everyone else is using it. I mean honestly in Taiwan it really wouldn’t be much more useful but in some other countries much more useful.
The crowdsourcing aspect and input is one part of it and can see it all as it’s occurring on the map when you’re driving.

Like if there’s a broken down car or a fire that’s blowing smoke across the road or a police car parked or some obstruction in the road like something fell off a truck and it’s in the middle of the road, it’s all shown on the Waze map and more. Much more detailed information like which lane is the road is open and which lane has heavy traffic just a lot lot lot more information live as it’s happening. Can even see the police cars location as they driving down the road sometimes.
