What's the most whack thing you've seen in Taiwan?

The most recent one, not too long ago:

Having a coffee in one of the nice coffee shops in Tamshui, by the river. The place was packed. Suddenly, two policemen walk by and one of them grabs a stray dog by the front legs while the other one is alert in case the dog bites his colleague. And then, for no reason whatsoever, they throw the dog into the river. And they piss themselves with laughter. Everyone in the coffee shops looks, but nobody says or does anything.

Can’t stand it. I stand up and go and check the dog is OK. The poor dog struggles to swim back and get out of the water. I walk to the two policemen and say “why did you do that? it’s not funny!”, “it’s OK, we always do it!”; “but why? look at the poor dog!”; “it’s good for the dog, to do some exercise, it’s too fat!” - the policemen says. “You are the one who’s fat and needs some exercise!”. By that time I’m thinking to myself: OK, this is when I get arrested and beaten up by two local policemen. Of course, a lot of people are staring and thinking western people are insane. The policemen look at me with angry faces but don’t say anything. I ask for their names and they refuse to give them to me, they even deny they are policemen! Hahaha!!!

In the end, I get their police number (from their uniforms) and write it down. I wrote a letter of complaint to Taipei County office, but I ot no reply. Oh well… at least it made me feel better!!!
