What's your favorite word/phrase related to the war against Iraq?

Words of the War

  • Smart Bomb (smarter than those dropping them)
  • Daisy Cutter (not Greenpeace friendly though)
  • Misinformation Minister (my very own creation)
  • Coalition Force (handfull of liberators)
  • Cheerleading (portrayal of news on CNN)
  • Shock and Awe (reaction when Bush gives a speech)
  • Friendly Fire (who needs an enemy with friends like that?)
  • Embedded (sleeping with soldiers)
  • Operation Iraqi Liberation (it’s about oil, no doubt)
  • Collateral Damage (sounds better than civilian casualties)
  • Pre-emptive war (kill first, ask questions later)
  • Axis of evil (anybody who is not with US)
  • Freedom and democracy (because it can be established with force)
  • Selfdefense (shooting at journalists)
  • Others (please specify)

Take it easy, ok!? :stuck_out_tongue:

“War is a dangerous, dangerous business, and you’re not safe when you’re in a war zone,” - Victoria Clarke (Pentagon spokeswomen)

“Crying in their beer” (anti-american protesters watching the liberated Iraqi people celebrating)

O.I.L all the way!

I loved that acronym even after the first half dozen times I posted it on the forums.

Much thanks to Jay Leno.

Actually I pretty much like all the words in the poll

Precision bombing: hitting the right country.

Iraqi soldiers in civilian clothing: civilians.

Osama bin Laden employs terror to gain his political objectives. Not wishing to be tarred with the same brush, George Bush employs a synonym of terror instead.

i just saw a whole bunch of words about the war, spoken by liberated iraqis on tv, that I won’t ever forget in fact. afraid i can’t say that for the words above.

He also uses a synononymym of ‘hotdog’ and ‘cow’ :?

Hmmm… it’s safe to say that Bush has indeed accomplished a lot.

Hearts and bleedin’ minds!

Insha’allah, or God willing.

Without this war, I’d probably never have learned this phrase. :frowning:

I remember one guy saying one word can only have one meaning.

…it is under investigation…

-Everytime they hit sivilian targets or “blue-on-blue”.

Have anyone heard the conclusion of any of the investigations???

Roadmap for Peace

Kinda reminds you of that old adage that a man won’t ask for directions…

I don’t know if this is just my little twist on it, but my favorite has to be “pre-emptive defensive strike.” I’ve been using it to justify all sorts of nasty personal behaviour.

I Also like… “defensive intervention.” It just sounds divine.

“Democracy! Whiskey! Sexy!”

Reportedly said by an Iraqi man when asked what the fall of Saddam would mean.

“Regime change”

= overthrow of a foreign government

“Shiite Thug”

(Is it as bad to be a Shiite as to be a thug? Of course, “thug” comes from a Kali-worshipping sect during the British Raj…)

“Coalition” - 2 countries and a few sappers from Australia.

Don’t forget the Polish troops that were involved.

The Iraqis are destined to be poor.

After all, living high on the hog would be a violation of their religious beliefs.
