What's your number 1 gig so far?

For my best gig, I would have to say last weekend at the Living Room. The second set was awesome. The audience was with us and the vibe was great. Fortunately, each show seems better than the last, so last weekend’s show will remain the best until we play at Peshawar next month.

The most memorable show I ever attended was probably Alpha Blondy (from the Ivory Coast by way of Paris) at the Fillmore in 87 or 88. The opening act was Oku Onuora, a dub poet in the likes of LKJ and Mutabaruka, but with a harder edge.

I see that Mother Theresa listed Reggae on the River 92 as a great concert. I attended R on the R in 87, 88, and 90 and loved each of the shows. Burning Spear was amazaing. The natural amphitheatre on the Eel River is truly a great place to experience the roots sound, and enjoy the abundant leaves and tops as well.

One more comment: My favorite venue would be the Greek Theater at UC Berkeley. Seeing the sun go down behind the hills of San Francisco while Toots and the Maytalls played in 86/87? was unforgettable.

The best gig I enjoyed so much was opening for Einstuerzende Neubauten at Gasworks parks in Seattle. But that was a looooong time ago.

you opened for Einstuerzende Neubauten ??

that’s incredible, my friend just went to see them when they stopped by toronto a few months ago…

It was a great experience, but like I said, quite a while ago. It was a one day “festival” that started at noon. We played 4-6pm and E.N. played last at about 8-10pm. Gasworks Park is an old abandoned plant in the middle of a park with a lot of old machinery still there. The atmosphere was great for industrial music.
