But what’s it “worth”? Cost to the seller, including their investment of time, research and so on, plus a fair profit level so that the seller can make a decent living? I don’t have a problem with that, and in fact, that model is necessary so that our society can function. Do you have a better idea?
Yes. I was hoping the ‘more than it is worth’ comment was a parody of the economically illiterate. But I’m none too sure . . .
First the zombies, then the commies. Time to get off the island!
Beware the zombie commie vampires, they will bleed you dry. Them and the international conspiracy of Jewish bankers and Freemasons.
I find that comment highly offensive. Some of my best friends are freemasons.

My Dad’s a Freemason. He’s the kindest and most compassionate person I’ve ever met. Makes me wonder why he’s hanging around with Jewish bankers and gay zombies.

Could he put in a word for me? I got blackballed last time. I wouldn’t cause any trouble, just sit in the corner during meetings. It opens doors you know.

No, not really.
On a completely unrelated topic, may I recommend a book? It’s called The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Ripping yarn.
And so do merchants. If all the merchants disappeared, you’d be very, very sorry.
Are you sure? Life in a post-apocalyptic world might be interesting. I learned everything I need to know from Mad Max movies.
Don’t get me wrong – I don’t care for a lot of the merchants and their quick buck mentality. But there are some fine ones out there, providing real value-added service to the community. The ayi who sells yarn and will teach you knitting if you go sit in her shop a while, or the homebrew supply shop that brings affordable materials and kits to your community and offers advice on your brews – these kinds of stores come to mind.
Thelonlieste. I’ve never met a Jewish banker so couldn’t comment. I was comparing freemasons, all of whom are pretty good IME, with zombie commie vampires, all of whom are bad IME.
Well played though, you got me there. I really should think a little more before posting, although then it wouldn’t be so much fun.
You lot are astounding in your stupidity. Just when you think you have the vampires, Jewish Freemasons and international zombie bankers vanquished, the lesbian lycantropes crawl out of the woodwork and gnaw your complacent asses. Vigilance, ladies, vigilance.

Sneaky old ladies … the free knitting lesson is just to get you to drop your guard while they prepare to gang-rape your wallet.
I’m enarmoured of the shooping shitrep in Taiwan. Much more of a small c market than in North America mainstream affairs. Especially amongst the middlemen. I especially enjoy haggling with the Hakka, who are always fair but firm. Good blokes, by and large, and there’s certainly no shortage of taking pride in one’s work…
HuZZaH!
Personally, I’m all for the vendors continuing as they have been doing long before I arrived. There is nothing unethical or immoral about buying something in bulk and selling it individually for a little more. The wonderful thing about the little shops here is that they are real people, not faceless corporations. Slowly, but surely, this will change and the little mom and pop operations will be run out and replaced by walmarts/carrefours and others. I guarantee you, these guys play the same ‘sale’ games, but are not flexible at all when it comes to haggling.
