When the zombies take over, how long before the power's out?

Great article. Incidentally, you can find out just about anything you want to know on this website - how and why gnats hover around a spot in the air, whether you can see the Great Wall from space, what would happen if everyone in the world jumped up and down at the same time, etc.

How long? I dunno. Those fuckers played LOUD, man. Lotta watts.

A 50s SF novel called “Earth Abides” lacks blood drinking zombies but does realistically address the issue of how long modern technology lasts without human maintenance. Electricity will short out fairly quickly as running appliances burn out/short out - a domino effect quickly blowing whole systems…couple of days and lotsa zombies and no lights!

That would depend, I suppose, on whether the remaining pockets of humans would make keeping the hydro electric plants protection/defense a priority. I would think that dams offer a strong defensive position as they have only two avenues of approach. I would pick a dam in a cold area as zombies don’t move so fast in the cold. And if it freezes then the Zeds can’t move and we would be able to foray into the local towns to collect supplies.

Give me an ax and a lucky d20 and I can survive anything.

I fear nothing…I am a teacher.
