When was fire @ Ziga Zaga/Hyatt (Mid-Autumn Festival 96/97)?

(sorry… I’m a newbie… if this thread is in the wrong place, sorry…
I’m posting here because it’s about a club in Taipei)

Back in 1996 or 1997, I flew into TPE on the day of “Mid-Autumn Festival”(中秋節).
I checked into my room at the Grand Hyatt Taipei.

That same evening, there was a small fire coming from Ziga Zaga
the hotel’s club located on the 2nd floor.

The whole hotel was evacuated and like every other guest, I was “lucky” enough
to be standing in the hotel’s driveway, wearing nothing but a bathrobe.
Nothing underneath. :stuck_out_tongue: Fortunately, it wan’t very cold outside.

Can anybody tell me if it was 1996 or 1997?
(or possibly even a link to the news article on this? English or Chinese)

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

What’s the point if it was 96 0r 97? checked google hyatt+fire?

Ziga-zaga still exists and the hookers and low trash tramps are still there. Even the bad ghosts are still seen in the Hyatt.

Sad all of them did not vanished in a bigger fire.

#1 - If I answer correctly, I get a date with a beautiful woman… Is that reason enough?

#2 - I’ve never been inside Ziga Zaga during all my stays at the Grand Hyatt…

#3 - “they got hookers there!!!???” (note to self, gotta check it out during next stay)

Thanks!

Dude, it is the most easy place in all Taiwan to end up in your bed with someone next to you. Just install yourself at the bar.
I did not experienced myself, but heard it too many times from different vistors.

Wait… just to clarify… do you mean the Ziga Zaga is easy for picking up girls
or for picking up hookers? :unamused:

Thanks!

It is said that Hyatt has a good “security” system avoiding proff. hookers to get in. But, they do have at least 1 older woman who is recognized as pro.
On the other hand, yes, ziga-zaga is a well know place for girls who want to euh “meet” good looking foreigners… And the rest is up to how the conversation goes for sure…

You are talking about the past. The Ziga Zaga used to be a pick up place where both volunteers and professionals offered their delights. This has changed since they renovated and got some competition in the area. I personally think it is an excellent place, with great live bands and outstanding food but it is usually a morgue with not many people going there these days. Sure there is the odd professional around like in any major hotel Bar or Disco around the world but it is not in your face by any means. It is also very expensive but if you want to listen to great foreign cover bands in a great place that is not too noisy and you do not mind to spend a lot of money, go there! And yes, you could say it is yet another pro Grand Hyatt post by me.

volunteers…???

No on the fact it is the past. A client of mine was there a week ago and in no time he was surrounded by “3 volunteers” at the bar. He got lucky. No questions asked, just for fun and at 7 am, she was gone. Similar situations in the past months. It is still alive, but maybe less than in the past. They do not offer their customers the escort phon call as they do in some other big hotels. GH reputation is important for sure.

Yes,Ziga-zaga is indeed a good place to eat and watch their performing bands, as the GH is the best hotel in town.

My point is, I do not like those “hey, look at me” girlies. To cheap. But, different tastes, different opinions no?
Anyway, it is crowded as hell these days with Computex and inside info told me they do have some concerns of the numbers of pro’s trying to get in nowa days :noway:
