When will Typhoon Morakot subside?

I’m scheduled to fly into Taiwan on Saturday, 8th only to find out that Morakot will be at its full force on Saturday.

I plan to postpone my flight. Does anyone know how long the storm will last ?

You can get fairly up to date information and forecasts at cwb.gov.tw/V6e/index.htm

Click on Typhoon Warning, and then browse the graphs and projected paths. They include dates and times.

Click on “Typhoon” and read, “There is no typhoon news now !!”

Alternatively, you could try this:

Don’t know what you’re talking about.

On the CWB’s web site, there is a link for Typhoon, which takes you to the projected path, and above that link is another one called Typhoon Warning with complete information, graphs and maps.

Plus on the Taoyuan Airport’s website there is a link with the delays and cancellations. Everything going east has been cancelled, maybe Staurday will be shaky -lots of turbulence- but OKish.

I would be more concerned with the person who’s picking you up at the airport. Better take a taxi from there and meet them in Taipei, for time and safety concerns.

I have postponed my flight to Tuesday, 11th August. Yes, I’m also worried about the road traffic from Taipei Airport to Taichung. Not sure if the special buses are having a break. The person who is going to pick me up isn’t coming to Taipei. We’re scheduled to meet atTaichung train station instead.

Well, trafic from the airport is rarely a breeze, but on Father’s Day, after a typhoon… that was pushing it.

So, you’re taking the Taoyuan-Taichung bus, and meeting this person up, with a cellphone card from the airport. All set. Have a great trip! Hope we’ll have some sunshine by Thursday! (since you are leaving the States I guess on Tuesday).
