Where are the gaming shops in Taipei? Before I am buried in replies regarding electronics shops, I suppose that I should specify that by a “gaming shop” I mean one that carries role-playing games, wargames and miniatures, card games, and the like.
I recall a post being made about a group of people that do role playing parties along the lines of DD type games. I am sure if you did a search you will find something. Maybe PMing the poster may get you answers.
There is a second hand shop near Roosevelt and Heping but more on the roosevelt street and not on the side of the Mcdonalds. And before a little firestation, there are tons of role playing DICE for sale for 10NT. 20 sided and the like. Didn’t go through it all but lots.
Silex Books, has a very unassuming role playing stash on their second floor on Gin Hwa street… It is south of Yung Kang street and it is on a stretch of stores like a DVD rental on the corner, toy store and across from the park and near xinsheng elementary. Highly recommended. Don’t get put off by all the children’s book on the first floor.
sticks of fury already mentioned the Flea Market 跳蚤市場 on Roosevelt and Silex Books. Those are two of the best places to look in Taibei. I have a few other places listed on my Gaming in Taiwan webpage.
Thanks, all. I will check out the resources mentioned.
Where is this exactly? thanks.
Go to the corner of Heping and Roosevelt. It’s just slightly north of the corner, on the same side of Roosevelt as the fire station. If you get to the fire station, though, you’ve gone too far. It’s on the other side of the street from the Family Mart and the Watson’s. Here’s a pic:
There is (or at least was) a bunch of dice in a stand outside the store, with many many more in bowls inside, on the floor between the counter and the entrance.
There are lots of dice left and if you can see it, it is beside a Hess Young learners school in yellow and another Hess business sign in purple. This should give you an idea.
If you have gone to Mandarin Daily, you have gone toooo far.
