He was a rabbi.
So Orthodox Judaism.

Thanks… I think you have assembled the best evidence. I much prefer it when people go directly to scripture, instead of paraphrasing.
A couple of points…
To be King of The Jews does not necessarily mean you are Jewish yourself. You could be King of Scotland, and yet not be Scottish. If we look at history, we will find examples of monarchs who were not born in the countries they ruled over.
The Magi (Three wise men, Im guessing) claimed the New Born Son was ‘Born King of the Jews’.
That is their claim, not Christ’s.
Jesus/Yeshua/Whoever cannot be held accountable for the claims of another person.
My question was more about what denomination Christ was, rather than His lineage. I think He most probably had Jewish ‘ancestry’. But did he actually practice the Jewish faith strictly? That is an unknown.
I am not debating for the sake of it. I am examining these claims through the purest lens of logic I can muster.
The Christ Mystery is very deep, and no one knows the truth.
Please quote from scripture, if you will.
Yeah, like Obama being born in the Middle East, right?
Right?!
How do you mean?
I see your edit but it doesn’t quite clear it up. They were anti-Catholic. Most were probably born there if I had to guess. They were open enough about it to start a political movement.
I sincerely believe Barry could have carried out the Christ Mission on this Earth. His handlers just wouldn’t let him. And the People didn’t help him enough.
Now…
In Three Versions of Judas, Borges states, somewhat blasphemously, that Judas was the true Son of God.
Any comments?
I heard it from a kiwi friend of mine as well, I was surprised to encounter this concept because in my home country we have no such distinction even though, on occasion , said Christians have been killing each other for 100s of years. If you attend a service or mass there really is very little difference . You meet a member of these congregations and you wouldn’t see any difference until they expressed their political views sometimes. Of course the Protestant churches themselves went on to schism further and hence you get the true and free monikers thrown around a lot.
It’s still happening. My friends’ Methodist church just split with the Methodists because they went all woke and whatnot. Now they’re a Bible Church-- which is just read the bible (New Testament/ Jaysus and such), be kind, generous and good people.
That’s a Chinese thing, yes, but also a US Evangelical thing.
He was a Jewish rabbi.
Can you quote this from scripture please? Thanks.
My mind is open, but I would like to see the Bible quote.
The
Methodist bishop of Taipei is female, but actually the original methodists were ok with that. Extremely progressive for the time.
Pentecostals were always fine with leaders who were female, non white, as well as mixed worship congregations ;well before that was socially acceptable.
Quote for what ? That Jesus was Jewish ? I would rather quote from historical sources than scripture but you can look it up yourself , he was descended from the line of David, and was a Jewish teacher. I dont follow sola scriptura as i like pagan christmas trees and celebrating Halĺoween.
Is the Pope Catholic?
I agree that scripture is not Gospel… if you see what I mean. ha. The Bible is not perfect… it is a Reader’s Digest compiled at Nicea… as others have mentioned.
I am really talking about what denomination Christ was. Not his lineage.
He did not have a denomination.
He is, like every human being on Earth, a spark of the Infinite.
Which Pope? There is White, Black and Grey.
A little early- rabbinical Judaism wasn’t established until after the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, though there were forerunners.
A Gentile[a] woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.”
23 But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. “Tell her to go away,” they said. “She is bothering us with all her begging.”
24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.”
25 But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!”
26 Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.”
27 She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.”
Matthew 15: 21-27
So Jesus specifically states that He was sent to the people of Israel, who are God’s children, and the rest of us are like dogs begging for scraps. That’s pretty clear that He was Jewish and was sent to the Jews.
I think they were being a bit to progressive for the mountain folk. In the day if you wanted to be weird, you went to the city. ![]()
It’s important to note that Jesus never refused to help anyone who asked him for help.
Matthew 15:26-28
Jesus answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and give it to the dogs.” The woman said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! I will do what you asked.” And at that moment the woman’s daughter was healed.
