Where can I find a USB-to-9-pin adapter?

I was going to post this in the Where Can I Find forum, but I figure I might get a quicker response from you folks over here

I’d like to attach a mouse to a computer which apparently uses a 9-pin serial port

Can anyone direct me to a place where I can buy this kind of adapter?

Something like these:
ambientweather.com/cousbto9sead.html
or

usbgear.com/USBG-232.html
or

usbgear.com/USBG-232MINI.html
or

shopnow123.safeshopper.com/2/279.htm?705

If I want to connect a mouse, though, I think I will probably want a gender bender to attach it to one of these cables

Have you seen these in Guang Hua? Can you recommend any specific store or vendor/supplier?

Those cables go the wrong way, they let you plug a serial device into a USB port.

Some (most ?) USB mice come with USB to PS2 converters (I have a couple lieing around the place I think). Why doesn’t this computer have a PS2 port ?

I don’t know the reason for this. I think the computers I’m refering to are workstations (not PCs) and the jack that is (apparently) for the mouse plugs into the keyboard. These jacks are 9-pin (DB-9?)

Buy a USB mouse it’s like a couple of bucks! Why buy out of date technology, go forward man. If you have run out of USB ports just buy a USB hub.

If you are keen on getting all these old ports I’d suggest going for a usb port replicator to give you extra usb ports, serial, parallel etc, and all on the one device.

Hi wyseau

The problem isn’t with the mouse, it’s with the port into the computer (the computer is a CT Scanner)

I want to plug in a USB mouse - the trick is to find the appropriate connector/adapter that will allow such a mouse to be used with the workstation

USB to DB9 Female connectors might be hard to find, but you can always use USB to DB9 Male <-> DB9 Female to DB9 Female.

cool. Can you recommend any place in particular where I can find them?
