Where can I find arctic silver 5?

hi all,

just wondering if anyone knew where i could find some arctic silver 5? i can get it off the net but need it asap.

anyone seen it at kmall or nova?

thanks

That stuff ain’t all that good any more, many similar things that will work just as well, if not better
Check out Akasa 5022 pro-grade+ very easy to apply and imho better stuff.
Also check out the new Zalman stuff, it comes with an application brush, much like nail polish :stuck_out_tongue:
Meant to be very good as well.

I have some sitting here, but that wont’ help ya.

I seen it in a more than one store in the market. And some cheep copies too!

thanks for the info.

i did go for an alternative goop first, Cool Master Nanofusion but it was an absolute bitch to apply. it had the consistency of putty.

might try out akasa. cheers

I got some about a year ago from a shop near the guan wha market. I think its right next to those places where they were selling drinks and stuff, the shop is full of fans and lighting and that sort of thing. They had it for 220 NT.

I dont know how long they are good for because I still have the tube that is mostly filled. I think one is good for like 30 or so chips.

You should actually replace articsilver about every 4-6 months, as it turns all brown and stops working as well as it should in about that time.
This is true for quite a few different types of silver coolant.
The CoolerMaster stuff ain’t that great and yes, some of the new stuff is really hard and stick as it has to heat up to work properly. The Akasa stuff is quite good as they use a cermaic/silver mixture. The new Zalman stuff should be really easy to apply.

On a related note can anyone recommend a durable paint-on high-conductivity coating and local source?

Application is a compact battery compartment design.

Thanx

The 5g arctic silver sells for about NT$250 at Nova. Go to the basement…from the main entrance, go straight and turn right down the stairs to the basement. Then from the stairs, then turn to the left an go to straight to the shop on the corner that sells all those HSFs and water cooling stuff. Its hard to miss that one. If they ran out, the other 3C store on the other basement also has some artic silver 5.

really? so every 4 to 6 months you should replace all silver based coolants? that sounds like a super short lifespan. sucks.

Well, have to and have to, it depends on the type of stuff you get and what cooler you use it with. I’ve used articsilver in the past and the silver goop has turned brown after about six months. I guess the new stuff might be a bit better, I haven’t used it so I can’t say. The Akasa stuff I use now is really good as far as I can tell and it’s not too sticky either, so it’s easy to get the CPU cooler off.
I’m not saying the arctic silver stuff is bad, but I just think there are better things out there now.

stupid comment removed … google works wonders…
