I go to Carrefour to hope to maybe buy some steak meat that I can cook myself but to my dismay, even the lowest grade are a minimum of 300 for a 6oz cut. How the heck are steak shops at Shilin night market offering 6oz steaks for 150 and it includes other stuff? Where can I find some low grade beef cheap? ---

I did that last year and it turns out there was a small butcher store down the road from me that has pork and beef. I don’t know the price of steak, but if I remember correctly, hamburger was a little cheaper than Carrefour. ---

chuck steak in carrefour sells for 79 nt / 100 gram. so you can buy 14 OZ for ~300 nt , cut it in 2 and have steak twice. ---

Costco is the obvious choice. If you have room in your freezer, buy a good cut and freeze it in small portions. That will make it cheap. You can also find a neighborhood butcher, it’s all frozen, but it’s cheap ---

Beef dealers are rare in the market, most are pork, chicken, or fish. I ended up buying boston butt pork and that made some great pork chop. It was about 170 per jin (that is the usual price for pork at the market, regardless of cut). ---
