Where can I find duty-free prices?

Next week I’ll be passing through CKS, Hong Kong and Heathrow. Question is, which of these airports offer the best prices on things cameras or IPOD mp3 players? Anyone got any suggestions on how I could get the prices before I set off on my travels?

I tried to google it, but all I found was booze and fags for both HK and Heathrow. I wouldn’t bother looking at CKS, it’s a pityful excuse for an airport.

According to the HK aiport website (who’d have thought to look there ?) these people have a shop there: fortress.com.hk/en/home.html Hong Kong doesn’t have duty anyway, so the aiport prices should be similar or higher.

Don’t bother with airport duty free for electronics.
The prices are jacked up a bit so it’s pretty much the same.

Guang Hua is still the best for electronics… and it’s tax free too nudge nudge

HK airport is definitely more expensive than HK proper.

Isn’t the whole ‘duty-free’ sales pitch in airports a scam?

Yeah, I always thought that myself, but also thought I might lose out by not asking.

Guess I’ll stick with street shopping in Taiwan for the electronic stuff.

Thanks all.

There is no duty on electronics in HK anyway, so HK duty free is just a laugh. In HK duty is only payable on perfume, tobacco, alcohol, and fuel. Everything else is duty free everywhere. Buying stuff in Heathrow. Maybe. Cameras and electronic goods are often cheaper now in the UK than Taiwan. I recommend you come to taiwan first, have a look, and then buy from the US by mail order if it’s cheaper. The US is the cheapest place I have found for stuff. I buy quite a bit of stuff and get it posted over. The ipod should be a reasonable price in Taiwan though.
