I find it ironic that despite Taiwan being a major manufacturer of fountain pens, it seems almost impossible to find a shop that sells fountain pens and associated products.
All of the pen shops I have visited all say something along the lines of: “We dont have any, they are too expensive so people don’t want them”
I’m not really sure, I’m just guessing here, but what about Mitsukoshi department store? Do they have a Mont Blanc store? Perhaps something on the second floor.
There’s a stationery store on the third floor (I think) of the Eslite department store on Gong Yi Rd. that you could try.
The multi-floor stationery stores used to stock them on the same floor as all of the other writing tools. This was a few years back, but I would imagine that some of them still carry a selection.
I’d try the Eslite bookstores, there’s five in Taizhong http://vip.eslite.com/store/eslitestore.htm (Chinese). At least the bigger ones here in Taipei have a very good selection of both the expensive brands and more reasonably priced fountain pens. I bought a German Lamy fountain pen that makes writing by hand instead of keyboard a real joy. NT$1200 at Eslite, but I’ve seen it for NT$1100 in other shops.
