Where can I find Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips?

Hi, can anyone tell me where I can find some chocolate chips? I would like to bake some soft batch chocolate chip cookies, but can’t seem to find any stores that sell chocolate chips.

Costco carries them, and I think I’ve seen them at Jason’s.

Wellman’s in Tianmu should have them too.

Wellman’s Market
472 Zhongshan North Road, Section 6
Tel: 2871-4454

Just south of the American School, on the same (east) side of the road, and between a sub sandwich shop and an oriental carpet shop.

Thank you both! Sorry, I had difficulty finding my own post so wasn’t able to reply until now.

Sorry flute, I moved it from Where Can I Find to the Food Forum, but you should have received an automatically generated PM informing you of this. You can always click the “OWN” link to see where your own posts are, though.

BTW, I’ve also seen the chips in some other supermarkets here and there. Baking is becoming slightly more popular, so a few basic goods like cake mixes and choc chips are starting to become a little more widely available. The Costco ones are a much better value that the tiny overpriced bag at my local super, though.

Oh, and if you let people know what part of town you’re in when searching for stuff, they might be able to direct you to a small shop near you that has it. The Songqing Supermarket in an alley just off the SW corner of the Minquan E. Rd. & Kangning Rd. intersection in Neihu, for example.

The bigger bag is also better for late night raiding, too

I know the OP has found a solution already, but the Wellcome next to the Guting MRT has Nestle’s chocolate chips and a growing selection of western baking ingredients. Not sure if the other Wellcome stores are following suit, but this one has had the chips for a good while now.

(On a related note, they’ve also started labeling their produce in English, which cuts down on a lot of the second-guessing.)

News flash! Fair-trade [strike]70%[/strike] EDIT:55% semisweet chocolate chips (Peruvian origin, Equal Exchange label) are available for a drastically reduced price via Foody, a fair-trade importer, $150 (originally $380, for a 284-gram bag, good quality), to clear inventory before a September 11th expiry date. That’s a DAMNED good price for fair trade, real dark chocolate, not the sugar-laden 30+% crap like many places.
