I’ve been meaning to fix the scratches and get a new paint job on my car for a while now. Then tonight, someone crashed into me while I was parked on the side of the road, so it’s time to get it done while I can get them to pay for some of it.
The Ford workshop charges about 30-40K. My mother-in-law knows someone in Ilan for about 12K, but we haven’t got time for that now.
So, I figure about 20K would be a reasonable price for a decent paintjob.
I’ve had a good search of these forums, and a few people have asked, but noone’s had any recommendations.
Bu, I can’t point you at any specific shops in Taipei, but I can tell you that you only get what you pay for. A reputable paint shop will charge at least 30k. Less than that and the quality will not be good.
Yes. This is good asdvice. I wish someone had told me before I repainted my car a few years back for less. Within a year it had all these fine crack lines on the surface as if someone with great patience had spent hours making circle scratched with his keys. Sun damage it was.
Also, make sure to pay an extra NT10,000 or so for a protective layer of wax. Really cuts down on scratches.
A lot of the shops farm all the work out to larger garages and stick on 50% for good measure… I was sceptical when my guy out here in Taichung claimed that he could repair some serious damage to ‘like new’ condition for NT$2,600. He did an incredible job for the money and it really is like new. I guess they do a lot of work on dents/scratched paintwork so get lots of practise Maybe it’s worth the OP going for a fix-up job rather than a total repaint?

had my Ford Telstar repainted at a Ford dealer for FREE because of all the scratches it had all over it (insurance paid for it). They did a great job but had to have the car for ten days.
First day out? a row of motorcycles parked behind me was pushed into my car AND a car ran into the door (hit and run while i was parked). Wasnt even 24 hours with the all new paint !!
