Where do i go to file my taxes?

today is the last day to file taxes an no one seems to be able to tell me where to go and file them in taipei!! help :s
last year i went to some big place with a ton o foreigners. all my forms are filled out… just gotta had 'em in

Head Office
No.2, Sec.1, Jhonghua Rd., Taipei

Walk West down Chungsiao as you exit the MRT at Taipei Main Station. Till you get to a big road. Cross by the foot bridge; the office is on the other side. The building you are looking for today will be exploding with people. Can’t really miss it.

cant i just mail the form in today. someone at the office told me that it’s ok to have it postmarked by today, not received.

anyone know?

Yep. Just asked the wife. That’s exactly what she’s doing with our forms.

Might be a little late, but foreigners are required to file in person or apoint an agent. That whole 183 days / passport bunk.

Imagine it’s going to be pretty busy today.

Good luck.

thanks for the address. went there… no problems, but it’s PACKED!!!

Opened up a can of worms:

  • not all entry/exits have been recorded in my passport, so I have residency visas issued in Taiwan while I was apparently not here.
  • a former employer has failed to provide the certificate of withholding, and a search reveals that no tax was ever paid. Nobody there remembers me, and the boss is in China.
  • during the search they turned up someone who had paid tax for me but I forgot to declare on the form. Ooops.
  • Oh, and what about the year before? Now I have to try and get a certificate out of IACC. Yeah, right!

But get it all soted out and they owe me money!! Yeah!!!

Why on earth would anyone wait until the last day to file their tax return?
As soon as I get all my withholding forms I high-tail it to the office and file.
The sooner you file, the sooner you get your refund.

Because we are foreigners, we are special, and, above all, we are lazy…any more questions I can answer for you wolf?? :notworthy:

What terrible consequence is supposed to ensue if one does not pay one’s taxes by today?

Probably just some fine.

Hey! It’s pretty damn serious. Last time I did my taxes (several years ago now) I was a day late and got fined NT$4.

Filed in Zhong He today, no line, special desk for “aliens” and it only took about 10 minutes. After which the WONDERFUL :lovestruck: man behind the desk gave me every deduction possible and announced that I should have only paid $3000 NT in tax this year. :notworthy:

I filed in Xizhi today. I’m getting back 16k!

yangdemei, I assume you mean you only have to pay 3k over what was taken out of withholding, or are you that guy in front of the Ambassador Theater selling chewing gum?

 At times I wish I was that guy in comparison, but that’s another thread…

NOOOOOO, I meant my TOTAL with-holding should have only been 3K. The rest is all coming back to me!!!

See why I’m so happy?

I was wondering about that. So non-citizens cannot file online? I’ve been doing that for my home country taxes for the past several years, and it’s so much easier than the old-fashioned way. I was trying to find out if there’s a way non-citizens can to it online in Taiwan, but was unable to find confirmation anywhere.

Went down to the place on ChungHwa Road today to file my taxes, and it was packed at 2:00 when I got there. Didn’t get out of there until around 4.

Currently it is NOT possible for NON Taiwanese to file taxes online, in certain circumstances it is not possible for Taiwanese to file online, only really applies if married to a non taiwanese with non taiwanese dependents though.

Heard on the radio that the government was giving a two day extension on the deadline. Any truth to this? Doesn’t apply to me, but might help some.
