Mods: I don’t know the appropriate forum so I decided to post here, if you find somewhere better please move it there… thanks.
I been looking to see where I can go to find people who are into music enough to want to join or start bands… but looking offline has proved to be difficult since that would mean traveling to too many places and even then the success is limited. I heard you use online forums but I wish I could type in chinese…
any ideas? or maybe there’s people looking in Taiwanted?
Put an ad up on tealit or forumosa and say what instrument you play and what kind of music you want to play. People will respond. You could also make a flyer (get someone to translate it into chinese for you maybe) and paste them at the Underworld and the Wall or some of the music studios around town. Good luck!
Im not really looking into defining styles for now. Just need to find people and we can agree on what styles to do. I am more into progressive/melodic or classic metal though. Im not sure if I can do death metal…
Put all of that into your ad. If you’re into playing metal, definitely put up a flier at the Wall and the music studios around Taipei. That seems to be a popular genre, especially at those places.
Sorry rahimiiii, but Josefus, funk500 and I had a meeting and we voted you out of the “Frost-tastics”. We have a clear vision of our art, and you are not fitting into it. I mean it’s been hours now and you still don’t have your white leather belt. How embarrassing would it be to go out on stage and not all match?
Maybe when things die down we can do a reunion tour next week. Then release our “Greatest Hits” disc and live of the profits for a couple minutes. ROCK AND ROLL BABY!!! WHAAOOO!!!
So what kind of skills are expected of me if I were to play in a metal band? would I be fine if I play like Sam of Dragon Force?? (sorry I wish I can play like Herman Li but that guys could play at a million notes a second!)

Sorry, I have no idea who any of those guys are. Hehe. I like the punk rock and older metal like Slayer and only Slayer. Generally with metal, you have to be pretty good and know what you’re doing, but at this point you just want to meet people who like metal and get together and jam so I wouldn’t worry at all about people expecting anything from you. You’ll have to feel people out before you know who you want to seriously start making music with.

I’d steer clear of this “Frost” character though rahimii. I just came back from my audition for the “Frost-tastics” and he made me dress up in a bridal gown (which I do admit is a beautiful dress) and leather gloves and play “Three Blind Mice” on stage.
When it ended, I was pelted then with eggs and rotten food and then Frost tried to get me burned at the stake as a witch. He did pay me a few zlotych for my trouble though.
Well I am just looking for people with the heart to start or join bands… doesn’t have to be a virtuoso but it’d be nice… even beginners can be in a band if he wants to learn… I just need ways of improving by jamming together…

Be Warned DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN[/quote]
You too? At least you got paid in zlotys. I got dong. And a fair bit of bruising. This rock 'n roll lifestyle sure isn’t what I thought it would be. I’m gonna try out for a rock steady outfit, I think. Safer.
Cool. It sounds like you already have it figured out. It’s kind of like learning Chinese. The best way is to move to Taiwan or China and just start talking to Chinese or Taiwanese people. Immersion. Same with jamming and all that. I think the flier and posting an ad idea is the best way. Good luck man. Let me know when your gig is and I’ll be there front and center!

Well I plan to go to the wall on 8/9 to see Hades/Crusher/Bazooka so I guess I will also bring some ad with me. Im not sure if there will be any takers though cause most metalheads here got too much obligations. I can’t type in chinese but I am assuming that most metalheads in Taiwan is gonna have enough understanding of English to read them. I am really looking to have styles where its a mix of Styper (a Christian metal band from the 70’s) and Dragon Force with a little Cannibal Corpse sprinkled in… but until I shread like Herman Lee I can probably only do Nirvana flicks…
