Where do you guys hang out?

Is there a general hang out place that doesnt require you to spend many dollars on some drink so you can socialize with someone from America or elsewhere? I do this at a coffee bar opened by some church organization but I really want to meet someone who isn’t here to be a missionary or something.

It’s hard to say. Check the Events forum and see what’s going on. It’s always pretty easy to just get in and tag along. Happy Hours are great for meeting people and planning to do something else.

I’m not sure there is A place where people hang out.

i cant really comment on Taipei, but if you’re in the Kaohsiung area you can check out The Lighthouse it is a fairly popular ex-pat bar

Yeah, you don’t have to drink booze at HH’s… I rarely do (that freebie night was an exception). Just come along, it won’t hurt. Unless of course Sandman brings his “magic stick” again… that was a disaster for all involved :s

Okay… where is HH, is it anywhere near Taipei? I am down as long as it doesnt involve illegall stuff and not in weird hours (I can’t go when MRT doesnt run cause I aint got a bike)

I should say HH= Happy Hour. There’s one this week on Thursday I believe.

Yeah, most of the expat bars don’t have any kind of drink minimum (unless they have club or lounge in the name), and most expats have enough tact not to rag on someone not drinking booze. You can also look for some of the popular expat restaurants on here or check near a large English school to see where they eat lunch. Shameless plug: my Subway Xingtian Temple restaurant has a lot of Hess teachers at lunch time.

I would also recommend sending private messages to some Forumosa posters you’ve chatted with to see if they’d be up to hanging out some time.
