For those wondering, the UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) campus was inspired by photos of Bhutanese architecture.

It was very strange to see that architecture in the middle of a desert landscape. Although after a while I find it strangely fitting. The color tone is a perfect match for the thunder bird landmark. Although, the school mascot is the miners…

Mexico was just a river away from UTEP. You can see clusters of corrugated steel shacks right across the Rio Grand, under a giant football field sized Mexican flag.
