Another bone question (apologies I have done a quick search):
Better rate for £600 to NTD in the UK or in Taiwan? My guess it is in Taiwan… if so where is the best rate in Taipei?

you need to know the money exchange system in Taiwan is not a without problems.

  1. all foreign exchange done at banks
  2. FE banks close at 3.30PM
  3. Only 2 banks will change GBP - megabank and taiwan

First Bank will also change GBP, but I did do most of my conversions at Megabank as they gave a better rate.

There is also a limit to the amount of travellers cheques you can do at one time (I think it was 10 - regardless of the amount).

Best way to do it - if you are in London at least - is go and join Metrobank (metrobankonline.co.uk/) - put your £600 in there, then withdraw it when you get here (no fees and the Mastercard FX rate)
