Which banks have a good online English web banking? Preferably something with a debit card, and where I can transfer internationally (receive and send).

I was looking around quite a bit, my understanding is that while done banks have passable English online banking, all credit card stuff is on separate websites that are only in Chinese. Please, someone prove me wrong!

I have tried HSBC and first bank. The latter’s “English” website is a joke, but somewhat useable despite some funny translations and quite a bit untranslated stuff. HSBC’s English is fine. For both banks’ credit card websites I needed to use Google translate.

I use Standard Chartered.
Usually the international banks will have an English system and the local banks will be crap and in Chinese.

A few months further on: how is your experience with HSBC? Have you made international transfers to UK/European accounts with it. If so, what are charges. Also are there any governement taxes applied to receiving money on to your Taiwanese account?

On this point, someone asked something similar recently. You might be interested in [this thread](https://tw.forumosa.com/t/taxation-money-transfer-from-usa-to-taiwan/187554/4).

I find CTBC has a good UI that is also in English. Bear in mind that my other bank is Megabank who’s website and app seem like they were designed for the internet of the 90s from another dimension 🗑.

No idea about the international banking online. My experience here is that you have to go into the bank for international transfers due to money laundering laws, and even if you send/receive money internationally, having it cleared is a whole different story.
