Which budget android phone would be the best if money was a factor? I dont want to spend more than 10 000, so i narrowed it down to 3 phones, and since i dont know anyone who has these phones, i thought i would ask the good people of Forumosa.
HTC Wildfire. I can get it for 10 000, but a lot of people complain about the batterylife(1 - 2 days) and the screen freezing. Android 2.1
Samsung 580 (Apollo, i think). I can get it for 7700. Good battery, but they say Samsung is not so easy to use, and im not crazy about the look of the phone, although the good batterylife is important to me. 2 - 3 days they say. Android 2.1 . In many ways very similiar to the Wildfire, but the Wildfire is supposedly more user friendly. Looks better than the Samsung too.
Huawei Ideos. Only 6000 dollars, but again batterylife…1 - 2 days. And it has a 2.8 screen, while the above 2 has 3.2 screens, and the Ideos has no FM radio. But the biggest problem is nobody knows the problems this phone might have cause its still new. Android 2.2
So there you have it, i need to choose between these 3, so if anybody know anything or have one of these phones, it would be much appreciated if you could give me some advice. Thanks a lot!
Strange as it may sound, 1-2 days is pretty good for some of these smartphones. There are ways to extend your battery life, like turning off 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi when you’re not using them, and keeping your screen on the dimmest setting you can possibly stand. Some people will tell you this defeats the purpose of having a smartphone in the first place, but it is a viable option for people who don’t legitimately need (or at least those that don’t convince themselves that they need) to be connected to these services 24/7.
I’m not able to recommend a phone to you in any knowledgeable capacity, but my gut says to go with the HTC in this case. Will it be getting the Android 2.2 update? Does it have user-replaceable batteries?

plastic, but stable, small, 3 inch screen, 480x320, will get 2.1 soon, bad camera
LG Optimus P500
3,2 screen, a lot RAM and ROM, 480x320 not that much bad things on it
Whatever you choose, Android won’t be fun with this low resolution displays. That means minimun is
480x320, so in my opinion the Samsung and the Wildfire is OUT, no idea about the Huawei …

I guess batteries isnt so important then, just that the Samsung one has a better battery, made me lean in that direction…as well as the good price. Is the screen resolution really so important if i just use it for normal phone functions and internet? Cause i dont play games at all.
The LG Optimus looks good as well, but again, I have heard people complain about LG phones.
I did a search on the android thread, didnt get a whole lot about these particular phones.
If you care about battery life that much, why don’t you purchase an extra one ?

Well have a look at the start-screen of a Wildfire and one with a normal resolution.
Go to a shop to see the difference.
If you don’t mind that difference, then go ahead and surf (I would get a headache) …
If I would be you, and if you can hold on for a while, watch out for the
Motorola Defy - a little over your budget, but worth every cent.

800 megaherz and 2.1, but it is running faster than the Desire with 2.2.
3.7 inch, 1.540 battery and surprisingly very small and light and it is
indeed a real outdoor-Handy, eg Gorilla glass / waterproof.
Big plus would be internal storage place of 1.5 GB and according to
some website it is now indeed planed to get an upgrade to Froyo.
(But well, it is still Motorola - so I …)
But with 2.1 it is already that fast, it actually doesn’t need an upgrade,
especially as Defy already has a pre-installed WIFI Hot-spot function too
Out in Europe now, and its expected in Hongkong early next year, but who
knows if it would make it to Taiwan too.
Price in Europe is 350 Euro, so expect it around 14.000 NT$ (if coming)
I dislike Motorola, but this Defy got real potential to be a mass-success.
