As far as I can see, they are all more or less the same, there are 4-5 different companies offering rafting.
Note that it’s a good idea to go right after a lot of rain, I went last year late October, and there was not much water in the river. No water, no rapids, so we ended up having a huge water fight.
I went rafting there twice. The situation is like what Mr. He said.
I had a lot of fun at the first rafting even though there was not much water.
I did partial rafting and partial river tracing.
The second rafting was a disaster.
I went there right after NARI typhoon which flooded the main MRT line at that year. I was almost drowned and had the near-death experience.
Anyway, have fun, but be careful.
so it’s more fun right after a typhoon?
It was very lame last October, no rapids, and being pulled along by speedboats. The water battles were fun, the rapids - OK in order to get us wet, they would sail right by us and send their wake over our boat, if not we could have had a dry brownish water rafting experience.
I think it was fun because we almost made our way to news front page.
And I did see “The Light.”

We did it in 94 with the river level neither too high or too low. Was a very pleasant trip, with a couple of small rapid and a rather large earthquake right at the beginning of the race. We were sitting in Nan-ao when the aftershocks hit…and dropped house-sized boulder onto the entrance of the tunnel separating Nan ao and Dong ao.
Took us more than a full day to get home.

not good after a big rain it seems. they have had one or two deaths if i recall correctly
BUMP!
Does anyone have the name/ contact number/ webpage of a company doing these trips?
Thanks!
If it’s the Xiugulan river rafting you are after, and you plan to stay overnight as well, try to call A-Zhen at 0910-660986. She runs a small homestay in Ruisui, and will arrange everything at a very short notice.
I tried it in late 2007 too, a fair bit more water and a fair bit more fun.
Thanks very much; we’ll likely give her a call this week.
Or we may go river tubing instead; it also looks like a great time!
Keep in mind that you often get what you paid for. You have to be very careful with signing up for trips as many promoters (especially those associated with Las Vegas) like to stick the title ‘Grand Canyon Rafting Trip’ to a variety of low-end trips that don’t really go through the famous heart of the canyon. For example, rafting trips through the section of river from Diamond Creek to Lake Mead or the little section of river in Marble Canyon downstream from Glen Canyon Dam - these can be fun, but they are not ‘real’ Grand Canyon trips. If you want a true Grand Canyon experience, than make sure you are running a stretch of river thats include the area somewhere between the mouth of the Little Colorado River and Diamond Creek (which it sounds like you are). Grand Canyon Tours.

Can’t remember the specific company.
I loved it.
Wear lots of sun-cream! I don’t normally burn, when I went it was even overcast so I didn’t put any lotion on, a few hours later my shins and arms were glowing red!!!
Have a great time!
i went end of summer last year…boring as shit. it was two hours of floating (or getting pulled by speedboats) down the river, and about 5 minutes of “whitewater”. granted, floating down a river can be really fun…but usually when you have a stockpile of beer in tow, are allowed to get out of the boat, and don’t have to wear ridiculous amounts of safety gear.
based on the replies i guess it just depends on what you’re looking for.
Well guess you have to go right after a typhoon for that “near death” experience?
ceejay2005: you realize this, and the other forum you posted in are about Taiwan. You have given links in both threads to businesses in Arizona. I have to wonder if you are not a real poster, but some automatic advertising program.
