Who changes the films over here?

What characters are cut out of Love Actually? It’s not the story line with the girl and her brother, is it?[/quote]

No, Imani, they cut out a whole story of two porn actors who fall in love, deleted every single scene where the two come up, not only the ones just about them, but later in the school where they say hi to one of the other ones and at the end in the airport, too.

Got to watch it again, I only realized that towards the end.

Iris

Yes, I discussed this via email with a friend, who said she loved the storyline about the two porn actors, and I was completely - huh? Maybe it was the same print that went to Singapore, or somethng

Yeah, like Good Bye Lenin which was restricted to 16 and older in Singapore. We wrecked our brains figuring out why and could only come up with one kissing scene (where they wake up in the same bed the next morning…). Maybe I should check my PRC DVD on that one, too :s

And for the record, that’s pronounced 'loo-uh-vuhl"…not “loo-ee-vil” or even :noway: “loo-is-vil” :noway:

And now that the Midwestern American English lesson is over…

Damnit, next you’l be telling us it’s niche, not “nitch”

I think about 1/2 the renta; DVDs here are Taiwan cheapos without subtitles (except English) or ANY deleted scenes, special features etc.

I znotice a lot of cuts on TV.

And don’t forget they’re always the ones with the 14,000,000 decibel announcement of their company name that you cannot fast-forward over –

Hey! Here we are! We’re the dipshits that fucked up your DVD but still charge you the same money for! Aren’t we smart! Doesn’t our fucked-up product tempt you to get ALL your DVDs in this format?

I don’t bother buying films here. I’ve been let down so many times. I now Download using P2P. I could even watch the last samurai with english subtitles and films that will probably never be released here like Elephant and American Splendor.

And it is great for rare music too.

Demolition Man originally had a Pizza Hut version and a Taco Bell version, when it first came out. The Taco Bell version was for US theaters, and the Pizza Hut version was for everywhere where there isn’t Taco Smell. Both companies (and KFC) were owned by Pepsi; there was no rivalry at all, just that the Taco Bell version was funnier but no one where it doesn’t exist would’ve gotten the joke. Nothing to do with bad DVD editing in Taiwan.
