My school offered me an ARC but told me that I had to pay 4500nt for it. I thought that the school had to pay for the ARC, not the teacher. I don’t know if this is common practice in Taiwan but 4500nt is alot of money. Could somebody please let me know if I should say something about it to them or if in general the teacher pays for the ARC.
That isn’t the cost of an ARC, that is the cost of the Visa.
I have never heard of NT$4500 for an ARC!!! I’ve usually had to pay for it by myself, and it has always been NT$1000.
ARC=$1000.00Nt
work permit= $3000.00 NT
labour union insurance =$1000.00 give or take
some times YOU pay sometimes THEY pay. It’s at the schools discretion and how badly you want the ARC. 
Not unusual for the worker to pay. Besides, just console yourself with the fact of how little tax you’ll be paying on your earnings compared to whatever coutry you come from!
