Just curious.

I’ve heard some sensible things from Brownback. This isn’t one of them.
“The last thing we need in America is to take God out of our public lives and institutions,” Mr. Brownback said during his speech in Topeka, Kan. “We need to embrace our nation’s motto, ‘In God we trust,’ and not be ashamed of it.

“To walk away from the Almighty is to embrace decline for a nation,” he said. “To embrace him leads to renewal, for individuals and for nations.”
Condi. If the Dems lose 2008, the only consolation would be that America finally broke both the gender and color barriers for President.

Also for Condi. Even though I don’t agree with her conclusions about most things, I have a lot of respect for her intelligence and career choices. I also respect that she stood up to Pelosi when faced with some insinuation that Pelosi’s experience as a mother made her more something than Rice.

Condi? Too many people in the know–starting with George Sr. who described her as “a disappointment”–have given her too poor a performance evaluation. Tom Friedman asked what one significant achievement has been realized during her time as Sec. State, and came up with nothing.

I have no expectation that Powell would run, and his credibility is now shot, but I’d like to hear his take thoughts unfiltered by the loyal soldier ethos.

For now, I’m watching McCain and Hagel.

I’d like to see a teletubby or Darth Maul or a set of keys win the nomination.

Or someone who is all things, like a black handicapped Jewish autistic lesbian, who used to be addicted to crystal meth. Maybe she could have a hooked hand too. And be a Muslim sympathizer.

She’d get my vote.

McCain’s rapidly being flushed, not only for being Mr Escalation but because independents are driven away by his crawling to the Bushistas and religious right.

Romney is being creamed for his pro-choice pro-gay stances (not to mention the Mormon thing), while so far Guliani is catching a pass.

I’d say it’ll come down to Guliani versus Brownback/Huckabee.

We’ll see if Republics can hold their nose and vote for a pro-gay pro-choice multiple adulterer if it means holding on to power. You know, the kind of “pro-family” guy that writes his children out of his bio in hopes nobody notices he’s been divorced.

I thought Romney was viciously anti-gay.

Brian Mulroney. He’s done so much more for America than anyone on your list.

He was for them before he was against them.

To win in Massachussetts he came out pro-gay and pro-choice. Now that he needs to woo the bigots on the religious right, he’s trying to backtrack. Unfortunately for him, there’s too much of a record.

I’d like to see a white male. This is no time to be experimenting with untried races and genders.

For me it’s a toss-up between ‘none of the above’ and letting the office go unfilled as a protest against the systemic rot of national government.
For me it’s a toss-up between ‘none of the above’ and letting the office go unfilled as a protest against the systemic rot of national government.
So you’re hoping that Cheney changes his mind, gets the nomination, and is soundly trounced by hte electorate, driving home the point he’s off-the-wall barking mad.

Jeb Bush/Katherine Harris 2008!!

dwight eisenhower.

posh spice.

i was going to say “who cares?” but the unavoidable reality is that the president of the Good Ole USA does have an unfortunate and over-warranted dominance of world affairs.

now if we could get the world working together rather than for each country’s selfish interests, such as in the areas of climate change and economic development and scientific cooperation, that would be much better for the future of everyone, not just less than one third of the population in one country…

and then i guess the question of “who is the republican party going to nominate?” becomes totally moot… because it would be sitting on the sidelines wringing its hands in angst and saying “look at me, look at me… we know better. why don’t they listen to us?”

For you Sir, the clap!
:bravo:

He was for them before he was against them.

To win in Massachussetts he came out pro-gay and pro-choice.
Still, as governor he opposed the legalization of gay marriage

Thanks for giving the the Clap, J.D.
