Excitingly, we have partnered with some of Australia’s leading universities, to provide a seamless pathway for our people towards university credits. This includes the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Torrens University Australia, the new Adelaide University, James Cook University, Curtin University, Charles Darwin University, the University of Tasmania, the University of Canberra, the University of New England, Swinburne University and specialist training provider, the William Angliss Institute.
The universities in bold are both within the top 100 globally. Up to 1 year of credit, for flipping burgers and undertaking staff training. I would assume that level of credit would only be available for those undertaking management training?!
It’s mostly good marketing, and a modest improvement. The uni partnerships are great though.
Maccas has offered nationally accredited training for decades up to Advanced Diplomas which is equivalent to an Associates Degree. Associate Degrees aren’t common in AU but there are many Advanced Diplomas and both are AQF level 6
I worked there from 15-22 and completed 3 courses the highest being a Diploma of Business AQF level 5
Sounds like they might be moving away from providing aqf qualifications and instead provide micro credentials presumably provided by or accredited by those partner universities. So going forward the average mcdonalds worker might end up with no aqf qualification, but hey they can get credits with partner universities, would be a cheaper training option for mcdonalds, and a pipeline for the universities. A couple of those institutions also provide vocational training… so maybe some will have to use credit to get commercial cookery or retail qualifications too.
That’s funny, I was thinking yesterday that it was maybe 50-50 during the Trump administration. And after that we’ll see how things are
Australian Strategic Policy Institute analyst Malcolm Davis recently put the odds of China invading Taiwan within three years at 50 per cent
I think he might have financial motivation for such a high probability.
I definitely didn’t put it in writing yesterday, because I’m not that solid on it.
The odds are definitely higher now than any time in the past 5 years, and I don’t see that improving.
