This thread starts with a tricky question. I’ve never heard a local person express the opinion the white girls are sluts.
Why don’t you ask back why western men think that all Chinese girls are easy lays and that some of the mothers ought to lock up their daughters?
Or why do Chinese girls prefer western men?

I did not realize Chinese regarded white women as sluts… I need to spend more time in China… but I can tell you that many Taiwanese have the impression that white people in general are free, liberated and loose…and all Christian at the same time. The perception probably comes from TV and personal experience with immature English teachers who come to Taiwan to continue their college lifestyle or have the college lifestyle they never had. You may also find a lot of Taiwanese feel black people are dangerous because they are dangerous in the movies. The only people to blame are the cultures that produce that type of media for consumption. It is only a mirror of what they want life to be.
A “slut” I believe is someone that has sex with everyone except you. If they have sex with everyone including you then they are just “easy.”
I thought I might respond in advance to the coherence nazis who will undoubtably show up eager to point out that I make no sense yet, not just once, but twice again. First of all, if I don’t know what a slut is, then what am I doing starting a thread entitled “Why do Chinese think white girls are sluts?” On the surface of it this would seem to be a reasonable enough objection if not for a couple of mitigating circumstances, first among them being the history, or perhaps rather etymology, of the post. You see if you had done your homework you would have realized that the post was made in jest in response to a brief squable between namethestore and myself in the “Is it so bad to be called a wiguoren post”. (I’m afraid you’ll have to forgive your own negligence. I have no sympathy to spare for my detractors.) Nameastore and I have since resolved our differences in regards to this matter. It was agreed to the satisfaction of all that vannyell was the true and only dumb turd. It is a complicated and highly nuanced affair that is perhaps is better left for later.
The coherence nazis might also find basis for critici sm in the fact that I proclaimed my willingness to regard Imaniou as a slut if she so desired when in fact she gave no indication of such a desire. If you take the time to consider the structure of the piece however I think you (yes even you coherence nazis!) will be able to comprehend that the “if you want me to…” bit provided the neccessary seque into the “help me understand what a slut is” bit which in it’s absract and ironic way was the touchstone of the entire piece.
And so perhaps by now it has become abudantly clear even to the most literal minded among us that things might not be as they first appear in that assosiations and innuendo, historical reference and metaphor all combine with context to create a meaning and an impact that is perhaps somewhere slightly beyond the reach of logical analysis. Because in our native countries it is OK to talk about sex. It isn’t here, so it shocks the locals. In Taiwan, and China and South Korea, women are supposed to pretend that they are virgins until marriage. Western women don’t pretend, so it seems like they are sluts to people who are listening to them. If you actually were able to get an accurate view of their behaviour, I believe the amount of sexual experience would be about the same.
I have most definitely come across that opinion before.
There’s the whole deal with moving-in together before you’re married (whether you’re white or not) = slut/unvirtuous/or at least ‘easy’. I think that people would like to think that giving it up casually is some kind of an imported value.
The Sex and the City thing is interesting, in Chinese they’ve translated that as something akin to ‘Dream City’.
The black people thing is interesting, my uncle burnt a piece of bread in those little oven thingys they have here instead of toasters, pulled out the charred carbohydrate and added “Wah! It’s darker than coal, like a black man.” My relatives have all told me that the darker you are, the ‘lower class’ you are more likely to be…somethign to do with the historical thing, that if you’re pale, you stay indoors and study out of the sun, you’re you’re dark, you toil in the fields with heavy labour.
Well, I dressed conservatively enough to have been mistaken for a nun on the campus of Fujen (honestly!), yet I’ve been propositioned by various taxi drivers during the time I was in Taiwan. There’s gotta be some perception that white girls – apparently all of them! – are easy.
Maybe either
a) white girls are not easy per se just different and therefore it is worth trying their luck or
b) they have had such great success with all local girls that why would you be any different theory 
or
c) they are just morons.
Many Taiwanese that I’ve talked to believe that westerners in general (men and women) are more open-minded about sex.
Unfortunately, some Taiwanese do indeed equate this open-mindedness with promiscuity. You hear the term ‘kai fang’ being used for both words. Even in Chinese ‘kai fang’ does not mean promiscuous but for some people it does imply a certain willingness to shag anyone.
Obviously open-mindedness and promiscuity are completely different but not in the minds of some Taiwanese people.
You write this as if you think that’s negative 
All of the Western guys I’ve met here have given me the impression that they very much appreciate my saying what I think about them/sex instead of playing subtle (not that I’m playing any games, being married and faithful :s ).
No Taiwanese guy has ever given me the impression that he thinks I or any of my Western friends is ‘easy’, either. Might the reason be that I’ve never watched a single show of ‘Sex in the City’ in my life?
To be honest, I feel that there is a BIG difference between the US (can’t talk for Canada) and other Western countries like England, Australia or my native Germany in regards on how open you can talk about sex. I’ve met quite a few Americans who were rather stuck up and almost freaked out about the way I’d discuss sex whereas it was generally much easier to joke around with Brits and the like (not that I haven’t met non-stuck up Americans and stuck-up Germans )

What I do know is that Taiwanese think they are more clever than Westerners (which is usually the case with any culture observing a different culture) but I do think that their “world” that they experience, is small (someone working with me, living in Taiwan for 35 years now, has never been to the south of Taiwan!), very small indeed.
