Why do expats spout the same cliches about Taiwan?
Perhaps you guys should change the rules to something about having to love Taiwan to be a member. Every time someone posts a negative impression of Taiwan, all the self-important veterans who derive their self-worth from the number of posts they have made on this forum weigh in with insults and derision. FFS, not all of us think Taiwan is so f*cking star-spangled awesome and just telling someone to leave the island because they want to share their opinion is really childish.

To the OP, I also don’t like being in Taiwan and I know others who feel the same. Stay strong brother(?), don’t hide your hatred and don’t cave in to the “Taiwan lovers”! Their words are empty, self-serving sentiments! I dream of a day when we will be able to give our negative opinions without being lambasted and told to get the f*ck off the island. I dream of a day when we will be able to shout our negativity from the polluted hilltops without fear, to hear it echo through every scooter-lined, pollution-choked, grubby street, lane and alley!

Taiwan sucks! So there …
:roflmao:

The only thing worse than “Love Taiwan or leave it” is “I hate Taiwan but I can’t/wont leave, or can’t/won’t leave for the meantime” You’re here. If you don’t like it, leave. If you can’t/won’t leave, try not to be a whiny baby about it. Deal with it like an adult and try not sour everyone’s mood. I guess you could get a group of whiners together for a circle jerk of self-pity, but ranting and raving to everyone else sure won’t bring much sympathy. Living in Taiwan sure is a tough racket, but back home sucks too

Yep. But isn’t it fun to have a little light-hearted go at the youngsters sometimes? I’d help them if they were humble. If they’re arrogant, I like to tease them a bit.

Pay attention to meeeeeeeeeeeeee!

How long have you been here? If it’s more than a few months in this supposed hell-hole, I wonder at how horribly mismanaged your life your home country must have been to stay in a place you hate for so long.

You have got be Canadian, a country that produces some of the finest intellectual giants the world has ever seen and, at the same time, a large number of whining babies who are approaching 30 but whose gonads have not yet dropped.
I rest my case. A little dissent and it’s persecution time. Yes, unlike most Harvard graduates out here, I f*cked my life up back home. So I came out here to be miserable 'cause I had nothing else going for me (I am sure I am unique as far as this goes). And I hate it. Taiwan is the perfect place to be unhappy. It is like an onion in that there is always another layer of incompetence or nastiness to peel back. Perhaps there are other places I would be more unhappy, but I will settle for here. So wonder no more, my friend.

Also, you seem to be an expert on Canadians and balls dropping … what qualifies you as such?

Oh, and I am pretty sure I have been here longer than you, so don’t come with that newbie crap!

I thought that this forum was about airing opinions. Just don’t say anything bad about Taiwan … or America for that matter (unless you are a card carrying American)! Right? So, I can have my own opinion, as long as it doesn’t offend the delicate sensibilities of the masters of this universe.

Sorry if a post on a forum sours your mood. Perhaps you should get out more.

I think the OP wants to vent and not sympathy. In any case, what about those people on the forum who are sick to death of the “Ra-ra isn’t Taiwan just the bees knees!” bullshit and want to hear from others who also think that it sucks (or at least that some of it sucks). You don’t like this thread, then go somewhere else.

Boo-hoo. Not my problem.

HAHAHA!!! Hey, why so serious? :ohreally: Boo-hoo not your problem huh? I guess the irony slipped right over your head. I was talking about people like YOU :roflmao:

Nothing really sours my mood at this point besides buying sour milk. I don’t really care if someone wants to vent or not, I was just venting. I have a love-hate relationship with Taiwan myself. Sometimes it’s more hate than love. But that’s ok, actually, home for me doesn’t suck at all. I love white girls and they love me back. Soon I’ll be home chasing big corn fed boobies and you’ll still be here stinking up the place :discodance: :discodance: :discodance: Not that anyone on this forum cares about either of us either way

Oh, I would go out more if it wasn’t so damn hot. If you hate Taiwan so much maybe you should STAY IN more

Oh, lighten up kiddo. I’m just having fun with you. You’ve got to forgive people for assuming you’re very young and inexperienced when you post stuff like “Taiwan sucks” and declare the need for a new era of whingeing about one’s chosen place of residency. It’s incredibly childish and it’s going to make the adults laugh a bit.

Anyway, I’m sure your winky is plenty big and those juevos will drop soon. Does that make you feel better?
I was talking about people like YOU :roflmao:

Thanks for clearing that up. It was quite obvious?

Awesome, so now it appears that we were all yanking one another’s chains and having a jolly old laugh. Whew! I laughed so hard, I almost broke a smile. It’s awesome the way you guys hid your joshing behind a cunningly conceived veil of seriousness. Well done.

Being all new here an’ all, let me get this straight … you don’t give a rat’s butt about positive or negative sentiments about Taiwan, you are just looking for someone to rag. And I stepped right into your awesomely-conceived trap.

Touche. I concede. You win this round.

(Hater’s unite!)

Yes, my little trap…muahahaha… You just couldn’t resist my salt lick could you? Whatever you do don’t crack a smile, your diamond-crushing sphincter might lose its magical powers

This thread would have been much better if not one person replied.

Instead, I’m left feeling like this.

I believe most men on this forum can proudly claim to be cunning linguists.

Taiwan, much like anywhere else, is what you make of it.
Some people like it, some don’t.
Some stay, some leave.
But the absolute worse kind of specimens must be those that stay, and hate it, and then whinge and whine, and expect others to toe their self-indulgent, noxious, and faulty line of prism.

Insane are those, that they must be, if they don’t have the mustard to make a change in their own lives.

I’m sure you are a hit with the ladies! Go get em tough guy!

May I stay and have mixed feelings?

I’m a bit late, but I had to reply to this one - I for one vote that this circle of self-pity should be held at either a Dante or Ikari coffee.

I can’t think of a more suitable place to have “the table of shame.” Well, except for Mr. Coffee

Is that why Taiwanese people always wipe the chairs before sitting down in those cheap places? :aiyo:

The coffee is bad and the food is worse. The seats and tables might be a bit dirty in some branches, but it’s the smell that bothers me most. Cafes should smell like coffee.
