My girlfriend uses those plastic strips to create a cleft on her eyelid which makes her eyes look bigger. Apparently Taiwanese girls think this makes their eyes more beautiful. I think its unnecessary and a bit strange but if my girlfriend really wants to do it then so be it. However, now she has decided that she would like to have some kind of operation where a doctor actually sews the eyelid together so she doesn’t have to use these plastic strips anymore. I think that sounds quite extreme to me but she seems quite determined to have it done. Does anyone know anything about this procedure? Have any of your girlfriends had this cosmetic surgery done? Any opinions. I keep telling her she is perfect just the way she is and that she doesn’t need any “improvements” but she doesn’t seem to believe me.
I love narrow Hanren eyes. Horizontal slits, single lid.
Girls over here have some bizarre ideas about how they look. I’ve found that girls everywhere have some bizarre ideas about how they look.
I believe science is still investigating a cure.
I would argue very strongly against any cosmetic surgery my wife decided she wanted to undertake.
Two words: Japanese cartoons
Yeah, the idea that large “shuangyanpi” 雙眼皮 eyes are beautiful while “danyanpi” 單眼皮 eyes are ugly is ubiquitous in Taiwan (and in China, Japan, Korea…).
The operation is super common. My old girlfriend had it done. Her eyes really were nice, but then I don’t know how they looked beforehand, so it may not have been an improvement.
I agree with you that the whole thing is weird, but then not any weirder than having breast augmentation or injecting botox into wrinkles or whatever. Methinketh beauty standards are pretty much created, and not really logical as such.
It’s a really big thing here in Korea. Some look really hot after and some look kind of stupid. The ones that looked really hot were probably hot without them. Sometimes it makes 'em look better.
Tell your girlfirend to get a boob job instead. More titties for daddy.
Fake tits are a real turnoff to me. They feel awful, and the scarring looks horrible. A lot of the time, they don’t even look good. I really don’t understand why women get them.
A heartbeat usually works for me.
tell your girlfriend that those scars (the two little dots) will just make her look barbie doll fake and people will stare at them thinking they are ugly.
It is true. I see girls who have that surgery, I don’t notice their double lids, I just notice the scars which are SO F’IN UGLY

Maybe she just had a good surgeon, but my old gf who had the surgery didn’t have any evident scarring at all. And I spent a fair amount of time staring into her eyes.
But of course, I think cosmetic surgery itself is a kooky idea and I would always counsel against it.
I knwo some girls don’t have scars, but most do. And it isn’t as much about the surgeon as it is about after care and skin type.
