Nobody wants to talk about it but for sure lots of folks have gone through it. Maybe this is well-covered ground but seeing as how I’m finally breaking my forumosa cherry I might as well do it ungloved (I mean like ‘gloves off’ like a hockey fight…no, really).
Found a bump on my willie and didn’t know where to turn. Asked my local friend and she suggested the Tang Yu clinic on Zhong Shan Rd. near Taipei main station. The thrust of this post (get your mind out of the gutter) is to urge you NEVER TO GO TO THIS CLINIC (www.tang-yu.com.tw/…note their map is upside down, a clear sign of professionalism). Long story short (enough!) the doc, who bore a striking resemblance to Li Teng Hui and was probably his elementary school classmate, took one look and told me herpes. Now I ain’t a doctor, but I spent several dozen hours looking at pictures of blighted members and even Stevie Wonder could see this wasn’t herpes.
Sure, you say, just another American from the State of denial. But this is not the capper. He then told me that he has A CURE FOR HERPES!! Take these pills, he said, and you will be cured for good and you will never infect a future partner. Now if anyone can produce a bit of credible medical literature to support this assertion, then I’ll wave my 龜頭 in this rodclod’s face twice a week (as NT$100 a pop) just out of contrition. But until then never trust a urologist with a shaking hand.
Ah, but this story has a happy ending (not that kind). I went to two other doctors who both agreed that this doc was a quack and both said it wasn’t herpes, which sounds good in any language (prognosis, not to worry). If anyone ever has any kind of problem of this kind and is looking for someplace to go, I found that big clinic on Jian Guo S. Rd, between He Ping and Xin Hai on your right if yr going south, to be professional and reliable. If you don’t speak chinese and yr willie hurts ask for niao(4) ke(1) (like niao niao – piss – that niao). And wrap it up mate!
Well, if you have a ‘bump’ get it tested, and by that I don’t mean looked at. As for cures for Herpes, there are none, however there are drugs which supress it, u just have to keep taking them.
In the meantime, can you post a pic of the young (or old) lass, so we don’t make the same mistake.

Tyc00n at the rick of sounding teste, the whole point of the post was that there is no cure for herpes and the both of us and probably most readers seem to have more knowlege about the subject than this “doc”
Mate the doctors in Taiwan are dreadful. I mean even the whole concept of the 3 days of antibiotics is completely retarded…I’ve had countless arguments with them. F’ing useless.
On a more positive note, the dentists are quite decent, if a little overenthusiastic.
You should’ve seen the scene when I tried to go to the woman doctor for a yeast infection caused by antibiotics which imbalanced chemistry and la la la - and they tried to give me MORE antibiotics for a fungal infection. Ai-ya!
P.S. The nurses at this office tried to put a sheet between me and the relevant body parts while conducting said examination. And they didn’t get it when I removed this sheet and glared at them two times; they had to try for three. After three I simply refused to let them put it back, and then the gossiping in Chinese about the crazy laowai girl begain…Yeesh. As if it wasn’t bad enough to have to go through that in the first place.

Well, erm, I’ve PMed the person in charge of the women’s forum two or so times and I never got any reply nor did I get allowed into it so I can’t see that…
In any case, thanks, but I’m first a) not in Taipei City and b) not expecting to need a GYN again in the next 18 days before I get off the rock. I’ll keep it in mind if I do have a need, though.

btw its safer to go to a urologist in a bigger hospital than clap clinics anywhere near the train station or hsimending…more quacks than a duck farm in those places…
