I see your point but it’s not an issue in the big city as long as you don’t drink at a 711 near your school.
I’m a strong proponent of drinking at 711s because I can’t afford to drink in any big city bars these days. If you are going to have a session, I do suggest that you go to a park or better yet the riverside where noise is less likely to bother other people.
Park is my go to if going “out”. Ocean, river, mountain etc. The times I go to 711, always it’s westerners that want to go, or supermarkets with the more labor related Asian friends. It’s always gross, depressing, uncomfortable and just kind of sad. Walking down the road a bit to some trees flips that energy completely haha.
But ya, I guess bigger cities you get recognized less. But even I’m a southern boy, the 711s I go to I Taipei a couple times a year the staff always remember me, even some customers say hi because I go at the same times for work. Always 2x water, tea egg etc. The staff sometimes even tell me if there’s no tea eggs ready yet.
Many a store remembers my tax ID, phone number etc when I don’t live there. It’s quite amazing. That’s my experience with the level of gossip.
Don’t underestimate how prevalent autism is here. For better or worse lol.
