Why is there no men's forum?

There is a women’s forum. Why is there no men’s forum. It would be great to be able to talk about manly things.

Yeah, I want a place to post porn pics.

Don’t you yokels know anything? Establishing “women only” venues while forbidding “men only” venues is what we call equality.

Like most things in life, this website too is probably owned by men.
Which is why there’s a “Women’s only Thread”. Give the girls something to keep them quiet, hey!
This world will never be in balance because of this male-enforced imbalance.
Where’s Namaste-girl (read: Namahottie) when one needs her! :help:

There was a lot of discussion and criticism raised when the women’s only forum was first initiated. And, contrary to what you might believe it was the women of forumosa who asked for the forum. Many men were opposed. So no, the fact that this site is owned by men is not the reason there is a women’s forum. There is a women’s forum because women asked for one and gave good reasons why there should one.

Dr, if you can give a compelling reason why there should be a separate men’s only forum, one that would actually attract discussion and be useful to the men of forumosa, and not simply be a link to porn sites, then please state it. Really, the women’s forum didn’t just pop into existence. It was argued for for at least a year. Are you willing to do the same?

I don’t particularly care if there is a men only forum, only that those who do want it are given the same opportunity.

Who wants it, and are their arguments compelling enough? Is their need great enough? Stop seeing double standards when there are only practical issues at stake. Someone has to run the men’s only forum. Someone has to set it up. All this takes time and, yes, money. Is there enough of a call for a men’s forum to justify these expenses? The answer is obvious: NO!

You need to ask that of rinkals, he’s the OP.

As for seeing double standards, how is anyone supposed to know there isn’t without asking? Lord knows we see enough of them else where, women only fitness clubs, females gaining access to male changing rooms, women becoming boy scout leaders, to name a few.

If there is a man’s forum, who would mod it? A woman  ?!?!?!?! Like I want to be cleaning up after ya’ll anyway.   just messin with yah.

I posted somewhere tongue in cheek that this forum is already a ‘man’s forum’. As that there are more men here anyway. I think that the recent tampon thread is a small but good reason why women needed their own forum, but I wasn’t around when it was created.

If we have a man’s forum, then we need a gay/lesbian forum. If we have the gay/lesbian forum, we’ll need the scotish hillbillies who like to have shotgun weddings forum. Then we’ll need the…you see where this is going?

This matter was already covered long ago by Maoman and other posters.

There is no men’s forum because a men’s forum would be dumb and nobody would go there. It’s really that simple.

In that case back to the kitchen…er…um… women’s forum with you!

When what was created, the tampon thread or the women’s forum? I don’t see how a tampon thread justifies a women only forum, if men don’t want to know about such things they should stay away. Fools follow where angels fear to tread.

Oh, the slippery slope defence is it?

Fifty lashes with a wet noodle for the OP then.

You can’t be serious. It would be a sausage roast.

No it would be a great thing. I support a man’s forum so that you guys can talk about farts and poops. Seriously, A man’s forum would be good to discuss things that a private and don’t want everyone to talk about. But like I said, it would lead to more forums that would want the same treatment. And that is what Maoman’s vision isn’t for.

I think that if men need to discuss really important issues, well this would go for anyone, they should add to their title serious replies only.

Gender-specific threads are for girls. :raspberry:

A Women’s Forum seems like a pretty good idea, and I am surprised that it was a topic of tough debate. Let’s be honest and admit that a large percentage of men are really twelve-year-old boys inside. It would be impossible for women to raise questions about serious topics like, say, random assault or pap tests (I am guessing that these might be some of the topics) without the thread being dotted with quips from men who wouldn’t be able to empathize or to give useful, tested advice.

There Are undoubtedly men out there in forumosa land who have serious questions that they might like answered. These men would probably benefit from a Men’s forum if the juveniles were weeded out. Since that is impossible to do, the men who would benefit from frank, male discussions would probably not participate in the Men’s forum long enough to justify the set-up difficulties.

The problem is that a lot of them don’t. Most women, upon seeing a thread that they have no clue about, would just let it go and move on. With the tampon post, a number of remarks from men were made which would never have been made by women if the topic were, say, jock straps. Women don

Let’s not turn this thread into a hate fest on men and why their ‘behaviour’ would warrant a male’s forum. Okay? :sunglasses:

There was also another post asking why that thread about “women’s things” wasn’t removed. :unamused:
Just want to say some of us do at least try to be respectful, might not always succeed though…
And this is the second, at least, seperate thread to have been inspired by that thread, why would they bother when a very simple and useful post created all this fuss ? Grow up people !

If this is in response to my previous post, I did not at all mean it in a hateful way. And I meant that the behaviour of some would warrant the rejection of a Men’s Forum proposal
