As a new doggie owner, give some parts a read through and save the link - there is also loads of breed specific info - if he looks like a common breed I would recommend reading that section through as sometimes this is also interesting

I understand completely.
Took me forever to get used to it.
It’s difficult, and creepy, to try to pet a dog that won’t stop licking his balls. Teaching an old dog a new trick takes time, sometimes.
They never stop!
The poor little thing. You are really doing a good thing by taking him in. Puppies’ health care can be quite a bit of money, but once he’s an adult he’ll probably only need a yearly checkup.
